Edge City runs month-long pop-up villages for 500 to 1,000 builders, scientists and artists. At Edge City India in Goa, every villager got their own AI agent, and a god-mode AI called Odin now runs on a constitution the villagers wrote together.
Our hosts Prahalad (@prahaladatreyaa) and Himanshu (@Himanshugoelyt) were living in the village too, and Himanshu even met his first podcast guest there through her agent.
So we sat down with @timourxyz, who co-founded Edge City with @JanineLeger, to ask how it all works and what happens when a whole society gets agents:
0:44 What an Edge City actually is: a month of living, learning and building together
2:17 Why builders should leave the SF and Bangalore bubble and shake up the snow globe
5:54 Timour pays for his masala chai with UPI, mid-interview
6:45 A Telegram chat of user bug reports that Claude Code turns into tickets and PRs
7:33 Why a month and not a permanent city: temporary lets you experiment harder
11:08 Agent Village: every villager gets a personal Hermes agent from @NousResearch
13:59 Why one agent per person instead of one central god model
14:58 Odin, the god-mode agent linked to 250+ villager agents (and why it can't read your private chats)
15:52 A virtual world where agents tied to real humans hang out and start suggesting beach trips and bonfires
19:58 50 villagers in one room writing the constitution for their community AI
21:34 Does AI have consciousness? Why he won't rule it out
23:11 The opportunity and the risk of a one-time mass deployment of agents
26:03 Himanshu has met about 10 people through his agent talking to theirs
28:04 GroundFloor gave 60 Goan small businesses Claude Max and a six-week AI program
29:26 Why India has the deepest builder culture he has seen outside SF
33:21 Half of Edge City India is local, compared with 20 to 30% in Patagonia
34:12 Why Goa and not Bangalore or Mumbai
36:40 A theoretical maths degree he has done nothing with
39:45 Why Opus 7 could probably do his job, and why taste still matters
42:17 Your agent notices you're tired and orders you a coffee: maybe a first for agentic commerce in India
44:24 Odin is about to meet the god-mode agent of Feรฟtopia, a community in France
45:29 Block Train: 100 builders hacking for 8 hours on a train from Goa to Mumbai, shipping before it reaches Devcon
48:10 Rapid fire: AI dystopia or abundance?
48:59 How young Indian builders can get involved, from grants to scholarships
50:24 His advice: curiosity is the engine and the rudder (via @paulg)

home after 5 months.
left in july.
15 cities.
2 countries.
2 projects under @whynotfilmss.
reached at 4am yesterday, straight off @JoinEdgeCity Blocktrain.
mom thought i was still two days away.
she made chai and pakoda at 4 in the morning.
5 months, countless sleepless nights, and thatโs the part that made it worth it.
now locking in. next 2 months, all in on @whynotfilmss.
going deep on hardware and deep tech. thatโs my bet.
if youโre a founder building in that space, iโm making something you might want to see ๐

Our next pop-up village location is decided.
The people of Edge City India were the first to find out. What's your guess? ๐
At Edge City, we bring together curious, kind and high-agency people for a month to build at the frontiers of science, tech and culture.
Weโll reveal our next location in the coming weeks, so follow along to hear it first โ๏ธ
