Reflecting this morning on how different this hack feels from how FTX felt.
Market is only down a few percent. Incredibly calm, dip buyers coming in, even amidst a macro rout, outflows have been muted. The directly affected alts are also holding up, as the market is pricing in Binance buying everything back.
This hack was a little over $6B, which in dollar terms is only 25% less than FTX's hole. But confidence in Binance as a business is so high, the industry came together, hustled to protect each other, and the market has decided: eh, it'll be fine.
Our industry has matured.

What happened is painful, yes. But once again we’re seeing what Binance has stood for since day one in 2017: putting users first, the team’s incredibly fast execution, and the founders’ commitment to doing the right thing. None of that has changed, through every high and low.

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.
