nowdays much of the advice that really strikes me are really really simple observations, facts, realizations. i think part of the beauty of 'life' is to have really really deeply internalized a bunch of really really simple things.
for example, it is one thing to agree with and parrot a claim like 'be creative,' but to be creative is an entirely different beast. to be free willed is to have a lot of work on your plate, but still walk with your roommate to the other side of campus to 'study' in the grass, to realize your roommate hasn't seen the museum next to the study spot so you take him there and see perhaps the most beautiful exhibit of your life, to make friends with the coolest gallery attendant you've ever met while trying to convince her to let you see the art restoration rooms (didn't work btw βΉοΈ), to leave the museum and see a random crowd of people walking and assimilate into the chicano studies from a community college hours away (we are neither chicano studies students nor community college students) then spend a few hours talking to interesting people about interesting things. to be creative is to realize you can say and do and think about so many different things in so many different ways and to BE creative means to flow through places and worlds naturally do so you don't even realize.
