The first feature in our new โThe Journeyโ series shines a spotlight on Ethan OโToole, a product of the Shrewsbury Town Academy.
Ethan spent more than a decade in Shrewsburyโs youth setup before leaving the club at the end of his apprenticeship. Now, after three years of studying at Loughborough University, the former scholar has returned to the Shropshire club in a new role.

Rutter, who led his side to a historic first Cerebral Palsy World Cup title, has worked with our scholars for the past four years, supporting their holistic development, wellbeing and future career planning. ๐ฅ
Drawing on his own experiences in sport, as well as his coaching journey at the highest level, Rutter has been delivering engaging face-to-face workshops that encourage our young players to develop key life skills and embrace a 'person before player' mindset.
A firm favourite among our first- and second-year scholars, Rutterโs sessions are consistently highlighted as one of the most enjoyable and valuable aspects of our life skills programme, leaving a lasting impact on both current and former players. โค๏ธ

For Theo Richardson, the end of 2018 marked a stark change in fortunes. Having recently left Manchester United, the then 20-year-old goalkeeper traded Premier League surroundings for the rough-and-ready world of non-league football.
Eight years on, Richardsonโs story looks very different. The Lincolnshire-born shot-stopper is now Herefordโs no. 1, playing a key role in the clubโs challenge near the top of the National League North, while also serving as CEO and co-founder of @HTgoalkeeping , a glove brand trusted by goalkeepers across the professional game.
