If you patched PHP yesterday, you're not done yet 🚨
php2shell started with an error every PHP dev has seen a thousand times:
"Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted"
Here's what actually went wrong, and what the update didn't fix 👇
My new PHP framework, Marko, just shipped 0.12 -- and it's a big release 🚀
Last week was speed (faster than Laravel on half the memory). But speed isn't what gets you to switch to a new framework.
The boring stuff is: queues, auth, scheduling. 0.12 is 60+ PRs of exactly that.
Plus the auth most apps need on day one:
- passkeys (WebAuthn)
- 2FA
- email verification with signed links
- password reset with expiring tokens
- log out other devices
And a Redis queue driver, atomic cache locks and HTTP range downloads.
I have the healthiest subscriber scoring chart on Kit that I've ever seen. Reach out to me if you'd like to sponsor one of M.academy's newsletters! They are now sent out every other week.
I'm automating the entire video editing experience, from raw to completed edit + thumb, with zero input from me
🔥🔥🔥
We’re renaming our Max plans:
Max 5x → Max
Max 20x → Ultra
Max is still $100/month, and Ultra is still $200. If you’re a subscriber, there’s nothing you need to do.
We’re also removing the 5-hour limit for verified Ultra accounts, starting today with most existing subscribers. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they’re verified, which helps us prevent fraud and abuse. You'll get an email when it's removed.
Weekly limits remain unchanged. View our plans here: claude.com/pricing
Linux kernel security bugs have TRIPLED this year 🚨
It used to be ~500 per release, now it's 1,500+. An Anthropic researcher pointed Claude Code at it and found a remote bug sitting there since 2003.
My Ubuntu server just got flagged for a 9.8 critical one. No patch yet.
The gotcha: Livepatch updates itself, but your automatic updates can quietly skip the Pro packages.
Check that the ESMApps and ESM lines in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades aren't commented out.
Every other week, I break down something about how PHP + Magento actually work under the hood. 11,000+ devs read it. Get in on it at: macade.my/NbZF4n
