Some days,
faithfulness looks like
doing the right thing
without knowing
whether it will work out
the way you hoped.
You can choose honesty
before you know its cost.
When someone solves a problem
differently than you would,
look at what worked
before rewriting their approach.
Give people room
to do good work
that doesn't look like yours.
Before you correct
a small detail
in someone's story,
ask whether it matters.
Sometimes love
lets the story finish
without proving
you remember it better.
You can be grateful
for the life you have
and still ask God
for something to change.
Gratitude doesn't require
pretending
you have no needs.
When someone sets a boundary,
pay attention
to how you receive it.
“I understand”
means more
when they don't have to spend
the next hour
making you feel better about it.
If you ask your team
for their opinion,
give them a moment
before sharing yours.
It's hard to hear
what people really think
after you've told them
what you hope they'll say.
When you pray for someone
you disagree with,
notice how quickly
you start explaining to God
what they need to change.
Ask Him to help you
love them, too.

When someone thanks you
for something small,
resist the urge to say,
“It was nothing.”
It mattered enough
for them to tell you.
Let their gratitude
teach you what to keep doing.
Before you repeat
an opinion you've held for years,
ask whether you still believe it
or have just gotten good
at defending it.
You are allowed
to learn something
that changes your answer.
When someone does a job well,
be careful how quickly
you hand them another one.
Ask what they can carry.
Being dependable
shouldn't mean
everyone stops checking.
You don't have to call
every hard thing good
to believe God is good.
Some prayers begin with,
“This still hurts.”
You can stay there
longer than a sentence.
Notice the person
standing at the edge
of a conversation.
Make an introduction.
Explain the inside joke.
Leave room beside you.
Belonging often begins
with someone making room
in an ordinary moment.
When someone finally
asks for help,
try not to begin with
“Why didn't you tell me sooner?”
They are telling you now.
Let that be
a good place to start.
You can thank God
for the people who carried you
and still feel awkward
when you need carrying again.
Let them help.
You don't have to become
easy to love
before accepting love.
Before you make the joke,
notice who has to laugh
to keep the room comfortable.
Being able to take it
doesn't mean
they should have to.
When you change the plan,
remember who spent yesterday
working on the old one.
Explain what changed.
Acknowledge the effort.
Your new direction
still costs someone time.
When someone says,
“I’ll pray for you,”
and checks in a week later,
you remember.
Be the person
who remembers a week later.
