🕯️✨ On All Hallows’ Eve, we honour all individuals who have led lives of holiness and faith. The term “hallow” refers to a holy person or saint, reminding us to notice the goodness, grace, and testimony of those who inspire us to grow closer to God.
May their witness encourage us to grow in faith and continue to nourish new beginnings together. 💙

➕💙 What if the first step to succeeding in math is simply believing you can?
That's the thinking behind JUMP Math, and it's bringing educators together to help students build confidence, one problem at a time!
The OCSB was proud to host a two-day JUMP Math Implementation Summit, welcoming teachers, principals and education leaders from school boards across Ontario.
Together, they explored the science of learning, shared classroom experiences and discussed practical ways to help every student feel capable of succeeding in mathematics. 📚✨
Because sometimes, a new beginning starts with one math problem that finally makes sense.
💙
👏 Thank you to JUMP Math, our guest speakers and all the educators who joined us to learn, collaborate and share ideas!

Media Literacy Week: Representation in Media
Who is telling the story, and who might be missing from the picture?
Media can act as both a mirror that reflects our own identities and experiences, and a window that helps us learn about the lives and perspectives of others.
💡Quick tip: Look beyond the story itself. Consider whose perspective is being represented, whose voice you’re hearing and whose experiences might be missing.

🧡 What does it mean to acknowledge the land we live, learn and play on?
In the days leading up to Orange Shirt Day, students at St. Mary School explored this important question through classroom discussions, writing activities and artwork. Using resources from OCSB Indigenous Education, students learned about the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Peoples, their on-going connection to the land and the importance of reconciliation.
The student-created land acknowledgements displayed throughout the school reflect thoughtful learning and meaningful conversations about Indigenous history, respect and the message that Every Child Matters.

Media Literacy Week: Media Making & Creating
We’re not just consuming media anymore, we’re creating it too!
From photos and videos to graphics, audio and AI-assisted content, what we create and share can have an impact.
💡Quick tip: Create responsibly. If you use AI tools to help create graphics, audio or written content, be transparent about how technology was used in the creative process.

💻🌎 Digital Citizenship Day: Helping Students Be Safe, Smart, and Responsible Online
Digital citizenship is about more than online safety. It includes making ethical choices, respecting others, protecting personal information, thinking critically about online content, and using technology in ways that support learning and well-being.
At the OCSB, these values are reflected in our Samaritan on the Digital Road program, which encourages students to bring kindness, compassion, and responsibility into their online interactions. Whether supporting a peer, standing up to cyberbullying, or using technology responsibly, students can be Good Samaritans in the digital world.
Parents and caregivers play an important role in helping children navigate today's digital landscape. Regular conversations about social media, gaming, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital reputation can help children make informed decisions and know where to seek support when needed.
To support families, we've created our Safe, Smart and Responsible Online resource hub, offering practical guidance on online safety, privacy, digital well-being, healthy technology habits, and more.
Together, families and schools can help students develop the knowledge, character, and confidence they need to thrive online.

✨ A language can open doors, but it takes an extraordinary educator to help students believe they can walk through them.
Congratulations to Kathy Sinclair, Department Head of Modern Languages at St. Paul High School, on receiving a 2026 French Immersion Excellence Award from the Canadian Association of Immersion Professionals! 🏆

If the internet were a neighbourhood, what kind of neighbour would you be?

Media Literacy Week: Break the Fake
See something online that makes you do a double-take? Not everything we see, read or share online is reliable.
💡Quick tip: Break the fake in four steps: use fact-checking tools, find the original source, verify the source and check what other reliable sources are saying.

🐯 At St. Matthew High School, generosity came roaring to life. At the Tiger Prowl 2026, students, staff and families at St. Matthew HS collected more than 5,000 cans of food and raised over $6,000 for the Community Compassion Centre.
The impressive totals tell only part of the story. By coming together to support neighbours experiencing food insecurity, students saw how individual acts of generosity can build momentum, create collective change and provide meaningful support to local families.
It was also a powerful reminder that faith becomes most meaningful when it is put into action. 💚
See how the St. Matthew community answered the call to Nourish New Beginnings.

Media Literacy Week: Algorithms & AI Literacy
How much of what we see online is influenced by algorithms and AI?
Today, we’re encouraging our community to stay curious and think critically about the technology shaping our digital experiences.
💡Quick tip: AI can be a helpful tool, but it isn’t an infallible source of information. Check facts, consider the source and think twice before sharing.

It’s Canadian Down Syndrome Week!
Belonging means being welcomed, included and valued for who you are. Across the #OCSB, every student brings their own strengths, personality and perspective to their school community.
This week, we celebrate people with Down syndrome and the friendships, connections and everyday moments that make our schools places where everyone belongs.
Let’s take the time to notice, celebrate and appreciate what each person brings to our school communities. 💙💛

🙏💙 Today, we take a moment to give thanks for the many blessings in our lives and for the goodness and love God shares with us each day.
Across the OCSB, may we continue to notice the many ways God is present in our lives and remember to approach each day with grateful hearts.
As we share this prayer, we thank God for His steadfast love and ask Him to help us recognize our blessings and always remember to give thanks. 🙏
“Give thanks to him, bless his name. For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever…” — Psalm 100:4-5
