I was in Times Square...on a billboard! Unreal! 🤯 Thank you to @circleapp for the opportunity, but more importantly thank you for being an amazing company that I've had the pleasure of working closely with for the past 5 years. We use Circle to host our community at SPI, and I've been an advisor since the early days, and to see how far they've come, and all they continue to do to serve communities all around the world...I couldn't be more proud of their success! It was an honor to be featured here alongside several other epic community leaders, but it's the members of each of our communities on these platforms that truly make it special. I was bullish on community in 2019 when I wrote about it in Superfans, and I'm even more bullish on it now today. If you aren't building community, you're going to be left behind. Happy “Let Go Day”! I celebrate this date, June 17th, every single year. It’s been 17 years since I was laid off from my dream job as an architect in 2008. What was very difficult at first turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise. I found something better. I was unplugged from the Matrix. I, for the first time, decided my own future and became an entrepreneur. If I wasn’t laid off, I guarantee I wouldn’t have been pushed to do what I do today, so I count my blessings and remember just how hard that time was, and celebrate what has opened up for me since. Thanks to my boss back then for removing my ball and chain. 💪

I shared the news I hit the New York Times Bestseller list with my 82 year old dad today, who growing up never told me “good job” or “well done”. It was always, “You got a 95% on your test? What happened to the other 5%?” I have PTSD whenever I see a yellow legal pad or one of those black US Government issued pens. Today, however, my dad told me that last week, before I found out I hit the NYT list, he wrote a note on a card and inserted it into one of my books at Barnes and Noble. He told me he wrote something like: “This is my son’s book, and it would be amazing for you to buy it to support his work.” Bro. 😭 He’s always supported me, just in his own way. If someone out there buys that book and finds that note (we live in San Diego), please share it with me! I’m so thankful to have had support from my parents all my life. I know many people aren’t that lucky, and maybe when I was younger I just didn’t understand it, but he did spend hours making sure my math was perfect, when he didn’t have to. I’m a mess rn. From 4 years of work on this book, to hitting the list, to a big keynote I had to prepare for this week, to now this — I’m so grateful, and my mind is mush. 😅 I’m going to celebrate Father’s Day with my family (and my dad) tomorrow, and thank you all again for supporting my book! We did it! 🫶
