From art culture to performance culture.
This diagram helps explain why some films now break through and others flop. We used to treat culture as the destination. Increasingly, we treat it as material for identity, performance and discourse.
This explain the contrast between Digger and You Can See Everything (YCSE)
Digger arrived in the old mode: big star, big director, serious film, go see it.
YCSE is built for the new mode: a film people can debate, meme, interpret and use as part of their own online identity.

I’m at theatre and in seat J10 and a boomer emphatically tells me I’m in their seat. Five minutes after they find their glasses - we establish their seat is J61.
A month or so ago I witnessed an enraged passenger phone the police because a “yoof” was vaping. I couldn’t hear the police on the phone but I could clearly tell the police operator ask the woman “well, what do you want me to do?”
