1/4 A Perspective on proximity-inducing #molecularglues and bifunctional compounds in relation to hot-spot-associated missense mutations enshrined by natural selection and posttranslational modifications (PTMs). chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxiv…
Throughout his career, Jon Clardy helped shape the field of natural products. His record of discovering the most influential naturally occurring small molecules is extraordinary and unmatched. He was a humble man, and his kindness and warmth will be deeply missed
Conscious AI?
1/5. The flawed "brain is a computer" metaphor underlies much of the speculation that AI will eventually achieve consciousness. Like many in the biomedical community, I find that unlikely for several reasons mentioned here:
4/5. A brain’s memories are dynamic rather than fixed, continually reconstructed through experience and changes in neural circuitry in ways that help maintain a coherent sense of self.
