Eleven years ago we started @EclipseVentures and bet everything on atoms. Rockets, robots, chips, factories, power systems, defense. The things civilization actually runs on. Today, we're announcing $1.3B in new capital to keep building. The physical world is overdue for transformation. Transportation runs on systems designed decades ago. The energy grid cannot keep up with demand. Healthcare depends on manual procedures that don't scale. Defense development moves at a fraction of the speed threats evolve. These are not software problems. They are full stack engineering and operations problems, and they have been underinvested in for a generation. But there has never been a better moment to solve them. The best engineers are leaving big tech to build in the physical world. AI is compressing timelines from years to quarters. Policy is aligned. And customers are not waiting — the DoD, the hyperscalers, hospitals, and the Fortune 500 are all desperate for technology that makes physical systems smarter, faster, and more resilient. Talent, capital, technology, policy, and demand are all converging at once. This is our moment 🇺🇸 We built Eclipse for this exact moment and in doing so, we launched a movement. Today that movement is 100 companies strong (and growing!). These companies supply each other, share customers, and help solve each other's hardest problems. Propulsion systems powering orbital defense. Modern supply chain infrastructure moving the worlds goods. Autonomous vehicles on three continents. Surgical robots performing procedures that used to require the world's best hands. Cloud hardware powering the AI revolution built on American soil. That's not a fund. That's an economy — an Eclipse Economy. The door is open to rebuild the physical infrastructure of the country. We intend to run through it.

The @oxidecomputer journey is still in the early innings. Always fun to hear @bcantrill share a stories from the first few years. In particular I will always treasure the board meetings with Pierre. Education of a lifetime.
Oxide just raised $445M at a $6B valuation. @bcantrill and @sdtuck started @oxidecomputer to build the computers the hyperscalers keep for themselves. @EclipseVentures led the seed when nobody else would. now they're profitable, and he says they didn't even need to raise. i also asked him if AI is a bubble, why america hates data centers, and why every oxide employee makes the same salary. nontechnical, episode 4. 00:00 $445M at $6B, and they didn't need it 03:06 one wire transfer bigger than their whole seed 07:14 "they don't have the guts. they're too chicken." 09:09 100% banked at SVB 13:04 a 92-year-old kicking their asses in board meetings 14:48 "would you like me to name names?" 16:58 a16z loved it, then sent the first rejection 20:19 leaving a first round partner meeting for the A's 22:52 "Marc Andreessen was offended" 23:05 NEA: "we will only invest in software" 25:55 "legends are dead" 28:32 "when a VC says 'I've got a technical question'" 42:39 the firm that walked away from a signed term sheet 46:48 "if I could get sequoia, do you think you'd be here?" 49:41 "they were cowards" 52:36 the nuke email he wrote and never sent 58:33 four years later, they asked for a reference 1:02:01 "politics and business don't mix" 1:10:51 is AI a bubble? 1:14:56 how he ruined a dinner party in 1997 1:20:44 "people hate data centers" 1:22:08 how sun got thrown through the windshield in 2000 1:26:26 why everyone at oxide makes the same salary 1:30:58 the worst hire of all time 1:40:42 when oxide goes public

The best teams in the world just put their heads down and execute
The fastest inference in the world is coming to @OracleCloud. @cerebras and @Oracle partner to enable blisteringly fast inference on OCI. Cerebras brings fast AI. Oracle brings deep expertise building and running AI infrastructure at scale. Enterprises have trusted Oracle with their most important data and applications for decades. Partnering with Cerebras gives Oracle customers more choice to match each AI workload to the compute that suits it best. Coming soon, they’ll be able to build agents with true super fast AI in the cloud they already use. Thank you to @MThiagarajan_ and the @Oracle team. Excited to build this with you. Everybody wants to do research. No one wants to grind out systems issues to increase MTBF.

End-to-end deep learning is not only the best approach for driving models, but also for safety, world and reward models. I was back in San Francisco last week to share more about our vision at the #LongHorizon summit on Embodied AI.

From the white boards in our office to this moment in < 3 years. Incredible execution from this team.
Since August, Bedrock-equipped excavators have been doing paid, fully autonomous work on live commercial job sites. Today we’ve raised $600 million to bring that to a lot more of them.

The @vantortech image showed a very small vehicle size. I’m guessing 1-2 optical sensors max and undersized power system requiring some duty cycling of the payloads. Poor range estimates. Russia also does not have a good global c2 network, so probably affecting their operational tempo.

You're already an exceptional researcher. When the kids are young, there is the tension you highlight, but it gets easier when they get a bit older. In the meantime, enjoy them at their current age, because they grow up fast!

Building a switch was a controversial decision. Not for oxide. For investors. You’re gonna do what?!? I’m out. Was the response from most. The real ones understood the necessity and invested BECAUSE the team was going all the way.

It was an honor to host @SenatorFischer, Chairwoman of the Senate Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, and Congressman @DesJarlaisTN04, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, at our factory in Long Beach, California. Their visit provided an opportunity to discuss the future of space superiority, the importance of continued innovation, and the critical role American companies play in developing the capabilities needed to protect and defend our nation. We appreciate their leadership in Congress and commitment to advancing the technologies and capabilities needed to protect our national security interests in and from space.
