Proud of all in @FineGael who have worked on this. Safety in public life is an essential part of our democracy. We must always work, across party lines, to ensure we push back against threats, abuse and intimidation in our democracy
Abuse and intimidation towards councillors and candidates have no place in our democracy.
Fine Gael provides safety training, guidance and support to those affected. We all have a responsibility to challenge abuse and protect respect in public life.

Heartbreaking news this morning to hear of the passing of Ciara Mageean. She was a European champion, two-time Olympian, a proud Irish athlete and an extraordinary person.
Ciara was an inspiration to us all on the track, but the courage and honesty with which she spoke about her cancer diagnosis touched so many people. She gave so many others strength and hope.
We need to see much stronger scrutiny of how public money is spent by external organisations. I want to work with government colleagues to see this addressed. So much taxpayers money is spent by external organisations. We have an obligation to ensure value for money & impact.

Simon Harris as Minister for Health signed the main contract for construction of the National Children's Hospital in 2019. The project has missed completion deadlines and is likely to cost €2.4 billion. The initial budget was €984 million. Providing no value for money.

I have brought forward a proposal that can save the Irish taxpayer €90 million by early repayment of some of Ireland’s bailout monies and enhance our economic standing further.

Good to catch up with some members of the @finegael Northern Ireland Engagement Group today on the publication of their work on a Unified Island.
In June, I asked the Fine Gael Northern Ireland Engagement Group to develop a blueprint for a unified island
I’m really looking forward to it.
I hope it makes a constructive contribution to a broader debate about the future of our island. It’s a conversation that deserves preparation, honesty and respect.
