Jerry Jones to @1053thefan on whether Cowboys would buy at trade deadline: "Everything depends upon the deal. ... At this particular time, I don’t see anything."
Would Cowboys sell? "We like what we’ve put together for now."

Jerry Jones watches Ben Johnson’s team go to Seattle and dominate the defending Super Bowl champions and that somehow confirms his philosophy owners don’t have to pay big money to football coaches.
Fascinating

Jerry Jones said Sunday’s game does not call for “very succinct important changes.”
Why?
“Because I like the way we’re trending.”

Jerry Jones on @1053thefan about concerns that Brian Schottenheimer had a conservative playcalling strategy.
“We were playing a game to avoid turnovers the best we could. The gameplan you saw was doing that. You can call that conservative if you want to. The game plan was based on us running the ball better than when we ran it. And when they did stack it really good … it’s certainly based on us giving [Dak Prescott] better protection.”
The Cowboys won the turnover differential, but lost the game.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on WR George Pickens: “He needs the ball coming his way more.”
I called the agent of a veteran coach to see if Jerry Jones had even picked up the phone and poked around on him during the Schottenheimer hiring cycle and he laughed and said “Jerry won’t pay 13M and up and that’s the starting point”
It’s well known and well documented just surprised he actually finally said it on record today.
Bringing this one back
Jerry Jones kept talking about wanting a coach that would agree to an incentives based contract. But I argued the market pays otherwise 🤷🏼♀️then he said he didn’t want anyone who didn’t want to be here but I argued if someone doesn’t make you feel like you are wanted why would you? Make no mistake there are plenty of coaches who want this job. He’s not wrong about that but this job requires a level of ambiguity that he might subscribe to but others struggle to stomach.
Confirming it finally.
Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on him not paying top dollar for coaches: “There is zero correlation (in the NFL) between how much you pay a coach or how many coaches you have as to winning. There is no correlation. And that’s a random sample of years and all 32 teams involved. So put that in your hopper and smoke it.”

There's plenty of blame to put on the Cowboys defense for Sunday. The offense deserves a lot of it as well. The drive after recovering the on-side kick, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were not on the field for two of the three plays. They went jumbo (2 TEs, extra OT), and 22 personnel and lost 6 yards (sack). Then it's a give up run to kick a FG to go up 6 points.
Three drives started inside Arizona territory - a touchdown (from the Cardinals 5), a missed 61-yard FG after conservative run call, and the FG after the on-side kick.
39 runs averaged 2.4 yards per carry. Pass plays averaged 5.1 yards per attempt.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer when asked why CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens weren't on the field at times late vs. the Cardinals:
"There's certain personnel packages that they don't play in, and there's a reason for that. One of those was the touchdown to [Ryan Flournoy] early. Those guys are involved in a lot of different things, and that's why."

The Cowboys had a player development meeting that got out before media was brought down to the locker room. Media relations said we should’ve been brought down earlier than we were

This is his apprenticeship. Jerry will definitely hire him at some point, potentially as a head coach. He’s said himself he views him as another Dan Campbell.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones when asked on @1053thefan if George Pickens is upset with how he’s being used: “No. I don’t think so. George has some things healthwise that he’s communicating with the offensive staff. He’s had some different things with his hamstring and some other things that tighten up on him in the game. It wasn’t necessarily that we were pulling him out of the game.
“… I think CeeDee (Lamb) and George are in a good place. We just have to continue to go to work every day. Hopefully this thing comes together. We think it will. We’re certainly convinced that we can do this.”

The Cowboys just had locker room availability, but majority of roster left the facility before we got in there. No players were interviewed. Can’t say I remember that happening before

I told Brian Schottenheimer that Jerry Jones said there were a lot of people that let Schottenheimer down in today’s loss to the Cowboys.
I asked Schottenheimer how he responds to that?
“I'll always own my part of this, as the head football coach. You know, it starts with me and there's certainly things that I need to do better. But as a football team in all three phases, I can point out 3, 4, 5, 6 plays right off the top of my head but I’m not going to do that.”
