Here's my issue with the @Shanemgillis monolog. It was mean and lazy. It played into a culture that makes women feel unsafe. I expect way more from a guy with a full career and an SNL spot. I've heard more clever misogyny at an open mic from a guy who lost a fantasy football bet.

My new happy place. I’ve been doing comedy for a long time now on and off, but as life and archaeology gets complicated, it’s nice to have somewhere to go and rant a bit.

I am still happy to debate @DeDunkingPast. Will be more than happy to talk about replicability during our debate. @MBeallX and @davesmultiverse have mentioned they are interested, so I think there is definitely people who are interested. Let's keep things civil and have a great conversation in the future! Hopefully we can start making arrangements once Dan finishes his other stuff/podcast and the semester ends. Excited for it!

Why did an ancient culture dig 5,200 holes across a Peruvian hillside? We may finally have an answer... backed by archaeology. New Video!!! Click here to watch 👇👇👇 youtu.be/q9WGE46mrTo

This is genuinely how many of us felt when @dedunkingpast started with his harassment and defamation 2 years ago. Glad to see other people are sick of this type of behavior from a 50 year old father.
Why are you so aggressive? I was literally reading your debate with Adam and you... just flipped. I was genuinely enjoying the debate... until your aggression. Thats it. Thats the question.

You know what? @DeDunkingPast has been issuing challenges so I have my own. He likes to go after my comedy, so let's make it official. Roast Battle. We'll pick a place close to halfway 'twixt Norway and Spokane. Boston or NYC Maybe Dan's new KT friends can give him pointers.

Dan is not a respectable person. I would not want to "get along" with someone who consistently posts like this: docs.google.com/spreadsheets… Just some of many.

It’s because @DeDunkingPast is scared that he got no substantial bump from his recent Rogan appearance. Not only that, but the comments were harsh AF. People are done with him. Add to that the failure to attract an audience in Austin, and he’s desperate again.
Replying to @DeDunkingPast
Going back to what worked, I see. Ah, the good old days.

Dan's especially nervous because he's planning to expand into a new podcast space and do some speaking engagements of his own, and he's now realizing he missed the wave.

Remember folks, @Graham__Hancock promoted this coward and (by extension) his sexual harrassment and defamation. @DeDunkingPast is nothing but a buy and a creep. The comments from JRE even agree, he's got nothing else.

Oh goodness, @DeDunkingPast is confused… Although I’m curious how he would “prove it”…

So @dedunkingpast says it isn’t necessary to replicate the “event,” but just the observations? Great! It’s common practice that multiple experts see the object in situ. Glad we got through this together. Ask Dan about his role in the @QuestForAncient scam, lawyers want to know.

…I think Dan’s confusion is that he doesn’t understand the distinction in what is being replicated, specifically the difference between replicating an observation and replicating the event itself. In astronomy you generally can’t replicate the event, like in archaeology…

… but you can, in both instances, have multiple individuals document and observe the “event” (either the supernova or the in situ context). Archaeology, like paleontology, relies on a lot of documentation to make sure claims about context can be re-investigated.

And there you have it. @DeDunkingPast doesn’t actually know what replicability means in science. Also: Unique or unreplicable events are a reality in science, in those cases you try to get as close to a solution as possible. Geology and Astronomy deal with such events.

Technical issues, so reposting: Flicking through some images from this year’s excavations at #Göbeklitepe. Here’s one of the Wish Tree with a couple of our excavation trenches. Indeed, we had an extremely successful season, with some magnificent new features and finds. Conservation and laboratory work also continue unabated. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who made the 2026 season such a success — from our director and excavation team to our colleagues at Şanlıurfa Museum, the workmen and women, and the wonderful excavation house staff. Your hard work and dedication mean a great deal. You know who you are! Tabii ki burada otomatik çeviri de var ama bundan pek hoşlanmıyorum. Herkese çok teşekkür ediyorum. Seneye görüşürüz arkadaşlar!

Some people think that they can do exactly what they want!
First of all, I would be interested to know the nature of the data that you collected. Secondly, I would like to ask whether you applied for and received all the necessary permissions. Thirdly, I was wondering whether you were on the official team list, as confirmed by the TurkishMoC; strangely, I have never seen your name there. Working/collecting data at an archaeological site in Turkey is otherwise illegal. This is a serious issue!

Fun fact @East10Outpost: Most journals have ethical guidelines and your bragging about breaking archaeological law at Uxmal would disqualify you. That being said, I love to see you get ripped apart in peer review and whine about it.
