While this is specifically a reply to what you wrote, @MarkH9222812974, it's a larger message to the many who just write off or dismiss the feelings of the people who live here and their concerns about the flyovers. Being able to let the public know well ahead of time (as occurred during the summer events) prevents panic for people who only see the underbelly of a very large jet that is very low. It's smart policy that also keeps the 911 centers from being tied up. You and your children aren't wrong for enjoying the event, Mark, and the people who think this could have been done better aren't wrong either. No matter whether you are a fan of the current president or which previous presidents you like, I think there is nothing wrong with having a healthy discussion about the safety of doing these over densely populated areas. I am talking about hearing from the aviation and military aviation experts more than what the average Joe and Josephine thinks. Yes, military flyers are absolutely superb. I admire the hell out of them. But tragic mistakes happen (even at air shows) and mechanical things fail. You are right about a risk discussion. There is risk in almost everything we do and we can't completely eliminate it. All I am wondering is if the real experts believe that the best risk vs. reward decisions are being made. I honestly don't know. There is another issue that many who have written don't think is important. It's quality of life for the people who live in DC. Everyone who lives in DC and the close-in suburbs knows that there are almost daily inconveniences and issues surrounding the Federal Government (motorcades, barricades, large areas closed off). You learn to accept it. It literally goes with the territory. But the large increase in ceremonial flyovers is very new. Rather than people mocking or dismissing the complaints, understand this is their home. People everywhere complain loudly when something disrupts the peace, quiet, and security of their neighborhood. Even if you think they are wrong, telling them to get a life or worse (as others have done) is demeaning. This is their life and they are trying to protect it. It certainly doesn't mean, as some have intimated, that they aren't patriotic or hate America.

It was a treat for my kids. The DC risk averse government types need to get a life.

STATter911 cameras caught the moments leading up to an overnight multi-car crash on the 14th Street Bridge. The video below shows two cars racing on I-395N as they passed the Pentagon and crossed into DC from Virginia. One of the cars slammed into a group of slower vehicles on the bridge. The other stopped in a safety zone at the end of the bridge. It's not clear how long that driver waited there. No word on the injuries. @dcfireems and @DCPoliceDept handled. @ARLnowDOTcom @NFTC_News @AdamTuss @tomroussey7news @matthewyoung31 @HCBright10 @CordellTraffic #police

Chris, besides the usual meme, that's the most honest critique you've given of my work. I can't argue with it. And, as a reminder, here's mine of your work 👇. Question: Are you capable of doing anything on your own without calling in CB? At least you don't hide behind a pseudonym. I will give you that. As always, thanks for playing.

Seeing the president’s plane was meant as a treat for those at the White House Halloween event. But for some outside the Executive Mansion, it was more of a scary trick when they looked up yesterday evening to see the underside of a 747 flying low and slow over DC. The video below is the view from across the Potomac in Virginia. The Washington Post reports that one big complaint from local officials is that they only got 15 minutes' notice about the flyover. The jet, of course, is known as Air Force One when the president is aboard. Flight tracking data showed the plane’s altitude was between 400 and 1000 feet. For reference, the Washington Monument is 555 feet 5 1/8 inches. There was a ground stop at nearby Reagan National Airport during the event. #WhiteHouse #flyover #aviation @ARLnowDOTcom @MidwestSafetyYT @HillaryHowardDC @NFTC_News @matthewyoung31 @MikeEmanuelFox @MacFarlaneNews @Acosta @dclinenews @tomsherwood

CLARENDON TONIGHT! A twofer. EMS called for a man with a head injury on the sidewalk in front of O'Sullivan's. At the same time, EMS was sent to a home in Arlington County where a woman believes she was suffering from being roofied at one of the Clarendon bars mentioned here quite frequently. #Clarendon #arlingtonva

I did not realize that @dcfireems was dispatched to investigate an airplane incident yesterday. First reported by @PenguinSix. "Air Force One is doing maneuvers." Listen here: openmhz.com/events/6ae4b939b…

There was a person under a train at the Virginia Square Metro Station. One of the 911 callers apparently said the person fell off the platform. Metro, of course, has automatically labeled them a "trespasser". It's likely too early to say with certainty what occurred, but @wmata has alreay passed judgment.
Orange/Silver Line: Customers will experience delays in both directions due to a trespasser struck by a train at Virginia Square.

The last time a 747 flew that low to the ground over D.C. was when Space Shuttle Discovery flew over the city on the back of a plane back in 2012. That was at an altitude of *1,500* feet and with days of advance notice. Yesterday’s flyover was absolutely going to create panic.

A horrific violent day in Prince George's County. 3 separate homicide investigations underway with 3 men killed. @DCNewsNow @EmmaUber7 @STATter911 @Wid_Lyman
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating three homicides reported in the county on Thursday. These incidents do not appear to be related, nor were they random. We do believe these incidents to be isolated. The first homicide occurred at a private residence, the second was located in a roadway, and the third was in a wooded area of a local park. The victims are all adult males. pgpolice.blogspot.com/2026/1…
