A record that stays in an academic journal tells only part of the story. The people themselves must validate and carry it forward. Documentation is not finished when it's published, but when it returns to the communityu from which it came. And maybe even then, the work is not finished.
My big sis once told me, if you haven't used it, looked for it, or even remembered you owned it in the last 10 years, chances are you dont need it.
I did some decluttering this afternoon at the faculty room and it was easier to throw stuff away remembering those words.
some of the things i found ( i kept) were students works they left for me to keep: sketch journals, and similar kinds of other stuff that accumulated under my desk, in my cabinets, or drawers. i got sentimental, they were the hardest to let go of
ok so i was walking quietly when four little kids came bouncing toward me, as if they had known me forever. they introduced themselves, raised their hands when they wanted to speak (but spoke anyway), asked questions, told stories, and showed off their cartwheels. what kind of energy were they on? oh yes they’re kids!!!
and they just wanted to share, to listen, to laugh, and to learn. they were NOT on their phones. they wern’t looking for something to distract them or somewhere else to be.
they were just there. present and unfiltered…
and they reminded me that there is something beautiful about being unfiltered. about approaching people without an agenda.
as we age some of us still carry that child along.. the one who still gets excited about the smallest things, who isnt afraid to ask, who laughs a little too loudly, who wants to know your name and hear your story…
so maybe my encounter today was a little reminder that sometimes the best moments come from people who dont think twice about being themselves.
ah it’s good to be in Mountain Province this time of the year! Inabutan ako ng Amihan ☺️ its really getting cold 🥰
