As Boston University men’s basketball coach Joe Jones navigates the ever-changing landscape of college athletics, he has made a conscious effort to accept the current structure and adapt accordingly.
Jones called it “almost impossible” to replace transfers Mike McNair Jr. (Maryland), Chance Gladden (San Diego State), and Ben Defty (Arizona State) because the Terriers can’t outbid high-major teams.
But, he knows BU has plenty to offer that other schools don’t, so he is choosing to lean into the chaos rather than shy away from it.
“That’s the thing that I’ve embraced,” Jones said. “OK, this is not 2019. This is the new era of college athletics. Trying to figure out ways to have success is my next challenge as the leader of the program. I’m looking forward to that.” bostonglobe.com/2026/11/03/s… @BGlobeSports @TerrierMBB @BUCoachJones
