Clinician researchers at @uclh & @ucl are leading a UK trial testing whether proton beam therapy could improve survival for people with mesothelioma, a rare aggressive lung cancer.
The HIT-MESO trial aims to increase 2-year survival from ~30% to 50%.

A new modelling study from researchers @ucl and the Severn Major Trauma Network suggests that patients urgently requiring a breathing tube are more likely to survive if the tube is inserted before arriving at hospital compared to insertion afterwards.

Men in England with high-risk locally advanced prostate cancer will soon be offered abiraterone on the NHS, following findings co-led by @uclh oncologist Prof Gert Attard.
The trial showed treatment can halve the risk of death & slow disease progression.
