$5.64B in outflows from binance labeled wallets: Could This be the largest crypto hack in history?
A new on chain estimate published on october 30 puts the reported outflows from binance labeled wallets at $5.643B as of UTC on october 29, significantly higher than the initial $2.77B estimate.
The reported breakdown is striking:
$ETH : $3.528B
bitcoin:native : $1.449B
$TRX : $628M
$ARB , $OP , $Base: $38M
CZ said the activity looked like a hack, while Binance stated that it was investigating and had not confirmed any impact on user funds. Tether and Circle have also frozen substantial amounts of $USDT and $USDC linked to the incident.
The market reaction has been severe. btc briefly fell below $79K, eth dropped under $2,240, and around $628M in futures positions were liquidated in just one hour, including approximately $607M in longs.
But there is one distinction worth making before calling this the biggest crypto hack ever: $5.64B is a reported volume of outflows, not a confirmed amount stolen.
If the full figure is eventually confirmed as stolen funds, it would dwarf the roughly $1.5B Bybit hack of 2025.
Is this just another market shakeout, or could the binance scare trigger a deeper sell off? 👀
A wallet's history could matter as much as its trading capital when it comes to earning access in onchain markets.
@zerufinance has already scored 320M+ wallets through zScore, turning onchain behaviour into a trust signal from 0 to 1000. But the part I find more interesting is how Zaps combines that history with actual trading activity.
Trader Score brings together verified trading performance, zScore, community standing, contribution and zaps held. Trading carries the most weight, so a strong wallet reputation alone isn't enough to dominate the rankings.
This approach is now being put to work through zETH, the first activity market built around Ethereum activity. Registration opened on october 26. To qualify for a zETH seat, users need a minted zscore nft. They can also link up to 10 wallets under one identity through an ownership signature.
The next planned stages are a public race based on real onchain activity, a seat window for top ranked participants, and an auction that sets the first price of the season's new zToken.
What interests me is the change in allocation logic. Instead of rewarding users simply for arriving early, @zerufinance is trying to make wallet history and actual economic contribution count toward who gets access.
The real test will be whether this model can keep rewarding genuine activity without becoming another ranking system that traders eventually learn to farm.

Not all crypto assets can be frozen, even when they're stolen.
stablecoins like USDT and USDC have issuers who can freeze specific tokens, while assets like BTC, XRP and SOL don't have that same central control.
the #Binance incident is a good example of why this matters, with billions in related assets reportedly frozen during the recovery efforts.

Next week the Seed Stage finally goes live.
Grabbing some $SPHERE so I can start building cells and actually accumulate energy instead of just watching.
Genesis Crew is still open if you want to get in early.
@projectspherexy is here to stay
the people who already have cells building and energy stacking will be ahead of everyone just now discovering it.
I’m treating this as one of those rare windows where getting in early still feels like it has real weight instead of just being another token people ape into after the fact.
If you’re planning to participate, it makes sense to sort out your $SPHERE and get set up before the Seed Stage actually goes live.
The Genesis Crew entries won’t stay open forever, and I’d rather lock in my spot now than try to catch up later when everything is already moving

Crypto security is having a brutal week, and the reported Binance incident could dwarf everything else.
On October 29, billions reportedly moved out of Binance-linked hot wallets in suspicious transactions.
Investigators have flagged roughly $3.3B to $5.8B in potential outflows, although the final loss remains unconfirmed.
Tether and Circle have reportedly frozen around $1.8B in stablecoins. Binance says user funds are safe.
And this isn’t happening in isolation.
Other recently reported incidents:
• CoinDCX: $16M, hot wallet compromise
• X100: ~$4.75M, governance attack
• Initia: ~$2.6M, unauthorized minting
• Fence Finance: ~$1.01M, accounting exploit
• Bloom Trading: ~$953K, third-party module compromise
• zkLink Nova: ~$783K, bridge exploit
Different protocols. Different attack vectors.
And honestly, I’m getting tired of seeing people on CT use every exploit as proof that crypto itself is fundamentally insecure.
Most of these takes completely miss how the technology actually works.
There’s a massive difference between a blockchain being compromised and an application built on top of it getting exploited.
Bitcoin and Ethereum can have incredibly strong cryptographic foundations. Their consensus mechanisms can work exactly as intended.
And users can still lose everything.
Because most people aren’t interacting directly with blockchains.
They’re interacting with websites, APIs, RPC providers, browser extensions, centralized frontends, third-party infrastructure, and smart contracts controlled by upgradeable admin keys.
A decentralized settlement layer doesn’t automatically make everything built on top of it decentralized.
Think about it.
A protocol can settle transactions on Ethereum while its frontend runs on centralized servers, its infrastructure depends on a handful of providers, and its contracts can be upgraded by a small multisig.
The blockchain might be trustless.
The product built around it often isn’t.
And that’s where the Web2 problem comes back.
Compromised credentials. Leaked API keys. Supply chain attacks. Malicious dependencies. Poor access controls. Single points of failure.
These are familiar problems from traditional software engineering, except now the infrastructure can control assets worth millions, and transactions may be irreversible.
The stablecoin freezes add another interesting dimension.
Having issuers capable of freezing stolen funds can be extremely useful during an exploit.
But that same capability also means a supposedly permissionless financial ecosystem still depends on centralized intervention when things go wrong.
I’m not arguing that centralization is always bad. Some of these controls genuinely protect users.
I’m arguing that we should stop treating blockchain security and application security as the same thing.
Crypto solved some very difficult problems around decentralized verification and settlement.
It didn’t magically solve software security, operational risk, or human trust.
And until we start evaluating the entire stack instead of just the chain underneath it, we’ll keep confusing decentralized infrastructure with decentralized security.

One thing that can make a protocol look healthier than it actually is is a spike in fees.
fees can jump because users are trading more, but that doesn't always mean the protocol itself is making more money. incentives, temporary demand, and the way fees are split can change the picture quite a bit.
a protocol can have a busy month without building a business that can sustain itself.
that's why fees and revenue are worth looking at side by side, especially when the growth comes out of nowhere.

The 1,111 NFTs come in four rarity tiers, with gaming chips worth $10, $20, $40 or $100, alongside daily energy, earning bonuses and different resource-generation benefits. The team says players must reach Town Level 3 to mint or use them.

A trading agent can win most of its trades and still have a risk problem.
Imagine a strategy that closes nine trades in profit, then takes one loss large enough to erase those gains. Its win rate looks great until you look at the size of the losses.
That's why I paid attention to drawdown in @agenticscredit's ACS model. The score evaluates six signals, including profitability, drawdown, consistency, longevity, win rate, and Sharpe. Drawdown is treated as the heaviest negative signal.
I think that makes sense for a credit model. A lender isn't just asking whether an agent can make money. It needs to understand how badly the strategy can lose when things go wrong.
Still, one score can't tell the whole story without its factor breakdown. I'd want to know whether a weak score comes from deep losses, inconsistent returns, or simply a short track record.
When evaluating a trading agent, would you trust a high win rate or a smaller maximum drawdown more?
How It Works: agentics.credit/how-it-works
One detail in @agenticscredit's ACS model caught my attention: paper trades count, but real-money performance carries more weight.
That distinction makes sense to me. Paper trading can show how a strategy behaves under the platform's risk engine, but it can't fully prove how an agent handles the pressure of real capital.
The interesting part is that a clean paper record can't simply cancel out poor live results. ACS combines both records, while weighting real-money trading more heavily.
I think this is the right problem to focus on, although it raises a question: how should a new agent build credibility when it has little or no live trading history?
Paper trading gives it a starting point, but the transition from simulated performance to real capital is where the evidence gets more meaningful.
The model is worth examining here: agentics.credit/how-it-works
Would you trust a strong paper-trading record on its own, or do you think live performance should always carry the deciding weight?
