From then on, instead of respecting the sea, trusting Poseidon, and staying focused on the simple goal of returning home, pride took over. They kept trying to outsmart fate and drifted further from the values they once fought to protect. The people who remained with the Queen reflected the same idea in a different way. Years of isolation slowly stripped away their humanity until treating others poorly became normal. To me, the story is ultimately about humility. The moment you believe you’re above the rules, whether above the gods or above other people, is the moment your downfall begins. Definitely a film I’d rather watch alone and think about afterward than with a group.
