The clock starts at nineteen. Not when he plays his first snap.
In June, Division I adopted an age-based eligibility model, and Division II followed. For athletes first enrolling in fall 2027 or later, it replaces the old system entirely.
He gets five years to play five seasons. The window opens at the earlier of two moments: the first time he enrolls full time at any college, or the academic year after he turns 19. Turn 19 before September 1 and it opens that fall. After, it opens the next one.
Then it runs. It doesn't pause for an injury, for sitting out, or for a transfer. The redshirt as families knew it no longer exists.
✅ When exactly does he turn 19?
✅ Is that before or after September 1?
✅ Would a gap year cost him a season?
✅ What happens if he's hurt for a year?
Once his clock starts, it runs whether he plays or not. The families who plan around the date are the ones who use all five.
If you want help planning around his eligibility clock, the conversation starts at 12sportsconsulting.com.

The House settlement replaced 85 scholarships and unlimited walk-ons with a hard 105-player cap. For families evaluating division fit, the market has shifted in ways most parents have not yet seen.

43 straight starts in that era is remarkable. Add in his career records, national passing-efficiency title and Pac-10 championship, and Rudy’s place among ASU’s all-time greats speaks for itself. 🔱
Happy Rudy first start day! On this Sun Devil day in 2005, @rudycar12 makes his first start ... and then would make 42 straight ...
thesundevils.com/news/2005/1… @dhagan80 had another 100-yard game...starting 43 straight at QB (one school) in 11-game regular season era pretty wild.
His recruiter got fired. His offer may not survive it.
November is when college staffs turn over. The early signing period opens the first week of December. That puts some families somewhere nobody warns them about: deciding whether to sign before the new staff has even been hired.
A new head coach inherits a class he didn't build. He re-evaluates every commitment the last staff made, by his scheme, his roster and his own board. Some offers survive that. Some quietly don't.
The mistake is assuming the commitment transfers on its own. A verbal was made to people, and those people may be gone. Ask the new staff directly, before you ask anyone else.
✅ Has the new staff confirmed his offer?
✅ Who on staff is recruiting him now?
✅ Do they run the scheme he fits?
✅ Are his other options still warm?
A verbal is to a staff. A signature is to the school, whoever ends up coaching it. Know which one you're making before December.

Three Power 4 programs fired their head coaches the last couple weeks. For families with a commitment at a school in transition, the pressure to act is real. The urgency usually is not.

Big Ten announces it has passed a rule capping school wide roster spend at $49 million (3rd party + school rev share) mirroring what is in the protect college sports act.
This basically sets the framework for its football programs to work under in the upcoming portal and roster retention cycle.
It is unclear what will happen to this rule if the PCSA doesn’t pass, but the league is fully in support of the bill passing. House members will be back in DC after Election Day.

I know they lost last week but I don't think people realize what @JaxSculley has been through the last 24 months, he deserves a lot a lot a lot of credit..... Going to be hard to convince me that there is a tougher QB in the country/....
We talked about it below in September.
Now more than ever, Arizona should bring back JUCO football. These Maricopa County Community College Board candidates are trying to make that happen @JohnCrow8383 @ryancaracciolo and Susan Winder (somebody get her an X account)

JUCO isn't a dead end. It's a different on-ramp.
Junior college gets talked about like the place recruiting goes to die. For the right athlete, it's one of the most useful two years available.
Here's the actual mechanic. He gets two years to grow physically, to fix an academic problem that would have stopped him anyway, and to put real college film on tape. Then he re-recruits. Only now he isn't a projection, he's a proven player with production against college athletes.
That's a stronger position than most high school seniors will ever hold.
It also fails, regularly, for families who treat it as a place to land rather than a plan to execute. A JUCO with no history of moving kids up is just two more years.
✅ Is this academic, athletic, or both?
✅ Does the program move kids up a level?
✅ Will his credits actually transfer?
✅ Who is recruiting him out of there?
JUCO is a route, not a rescue. It works when there's a plan for year three, not just a place for year one.
If you want help deciding whether the JUCO route fits your son, the conversation starts at 12sportsconsulting.com.

Respect to both of you. You're each right about something.
@BreidenFehoko is right on the principle: food first. Ideally every athlete gets creatine, vitamins and minerals from real food. Red meat and fish are the natural sources.
The catch: 1 lb of raw beef has roughly 2 grams of creatine. The studied dose is 3–5 g a day. Lets be real, most kids aren't eating 2+ lbs of steak daily. That's where a supplement fills the gap.
@JaelenStrong is right on the science. "All soft tissue injuries come from creatine" doesn't hold up.
• Greenwood et al. tracked Division I football players over three seasons. Creatine users had the same or LOWER rates of cramping, strains, muscle tightness and missed practices than non-users. (J Athl Train 2003; Mol Cell Biochem 2003)
• The International Society of Sports Nutrition's expert reviews (2021, 2025) found no evidence creatine causes cramping, dehydration or injury.
• Soft tissue injuries existed long before supplements. Load, sleep, fatigue, hydration and mechanics drive them.
Eat right first. Supplement smart when you can't. Both things can be true. Onward!
This needs to be done. If for nothing else, vote for @JohnCrow8383 and @ryancaracciolo because they're going to bring back JUCO football to Arizona.
BRING BACK JUCO FOOTBALL TO ARIZONA?!
Three 3 Maricopa County Community College Board candidates are trying to make that happen.
Valley boys @JohnCrow8383 and @ryancaracciolo stop by our studios to talk about it.
