I know I'm a day early but... Happy Haloween! Here's 3.5 minutes of brand new areas unseen... and a hot Cortana screenshot for ya on Halo running on Sega Dreamcast. I'm pretty proud of how I got Cortana to look considering the Dreamcast has no GPU shaders. I know I haven't had a lot of Halo: DCE screenshots or videos lately, but I have been SLIPSPACE on this hotcake. I am nearing a stable 30 fps in most places (obviously heavy combat slows, but it's almost always above 20 now). Every little thing is adding up slowly, but surely. Actually, it's been quite fast, to be honest... I only started porting the game 15 days ago. 😂 It's probably the single most modified version of Halo running out there and the entire campaign is nearly fully playable with about half the cutscenes and fully drivable (and flyable) vehicles. I've been doing it myself only so far, but that is going to change shortly as I hand off parts of the projects to other, and far more intelligent, Dreamcast developers to help get this champion Halo: Dreamcast Evolved as the system's most definitively impressive game in its library. From creating custom tools for manageing assets one-by-one, fine-tuning Cortana's err assets, running MCP servers to reduce or recreate assets to save hundreds, if not thousands of polygons in a scene, to dynamic LOD and draw distances to keep combat and exploration as smooth as possible. The optimisations will continue, however, as will the full game be completely playable on a stock 16MB Dreamcast. Here's how things are looking now!
