David Dewhurst, candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Texas, runs a campaign ad that features a man in uniform standing in front of an American flag.
The problem - the man is not wearing a U.S. military uniform, but rather a German Luftwaffe uniform.
Doubly-embarassing: Dewhurst’s father is a WWII hero.

The mother of missing NYPD cadet Mohammad Salman Hamdani writes a letter to President Bush, demanding to know where her son is.
Hamdani was not on duty the morning of the September 11 attacks, and his mother accuses Bush of covering up his death somehow. She claims that has been visited several times by the FBI, asking where Mohammad is and attempting to search her home.
She even claims that the CIA has been in contact with her to ask questions, and that they have taken his computer.
This case has become a contentious issue in New York; Hamdani’s missing poster has been torn down by disgruntled citizens various times, with many claiming that he played a role in the attacks.

The Washington Post reveals that World Trade Center security executive Rick Rescorla rescued nearly 2,700 people during the September 11 attacks before dying in the attacks.
He is certainly the hero of the day, as hundreds of survivors step forward to corroborate that he continuously went back into the building to pull more people out.
Rescorla, a Cornish-American Vietnam veteran, purportedly sang songs such as Cornish hymn “Men of Harlech” to keep morale up during the evacuations.
Between songs, Rescorla called his wife, telling her, “Stop crying. I have to get these people out safely. If something should happen to me, I want you to know I've never been happier. You made my life.”
When a colleague told him that he should stop evacuating people and get out of the burning building, he replied “as soon as I make sure everyone else is out.”
He was last seen alive at 9:56 AM, walking upstairs on the 10th floor of the South Tower, just before the collapse.
