The right to assemble and to peacefully protest is fundamental to who we are as a country and to the power of the labor movement.
“Like many of my fellow immigrants, I had a union card before I had a green card...As a leader of UNITE HERE, I know our first response in this moment must be to continue to grow the union and fight for our members."
Enrique Fernández, UNITE HERE General VP for Immigration, Civil Rights & Diversity on protecting immigrant workers in the current environment:

We've been waiting for too long for a fair deal.
We've authorized a strike at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale.
We've given our deadline.

Today 300 graduate workers visited Chancellor Gabel’s office to tell her that a strong majority of us have signed union cards. Tomorrow we'll file with the state labor board for our union vote! (Photo credit: @cineformosa)
Today, after nine months of good-faith negotiations with the university, graduate workers at Yale voted to ratify a first contract, which will be effective through July 2028.
What’s in our Tentative Agreement? Big wins on our five bargaining priorities: better pay 💰, better health care 🩺, fair treatment and a grievance procedure ⚖️, support for international workers 🌍, support for families and dependents 👶 + much more!
If you are a grad worker on our email list, you have received a detailed TA summary and a copy of the full TA 📄+ details about info sessions and ratification in your non-Yale email 📧. ❓Questions? Didn’t get an email? ❓💻 Reach out to [email protected]
