"I don't think Trump has enough room to shove the ballroom up his ass because Mike Johnson's already in there," my 92 year old mom. She said I could quote her.

[Violence against women is the] "single greatest human rights violation of our generation."

I’m inclined to think that giving to women’s shelters and other organizations that support victims of intimate partner violence would also be a great way to honor Sir Patrick.

Just a reminder that Sir Patrick Stewart was a lifelong, passionate political activist, a self-described socialist, and a prominent supporter of progressive causes. RIP Captain.
And, he'd want you to vote.

There is a line from ST:TNG, spoken by Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, which has honestly become something of a mantra for me which has gotten me through difficult times.
“It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life."
When I say it to myself, I hear it in his voice. So as parasocial as it might sound, I do feel like I’ve lost someone who has had a profound influence on me and carried me through some of my darkest moments — and will probably carry me in moments to come.
My heart goes out to his family and friends, and to all the people whose lives he touched, in whatever way that may be. He truly was an incredible man. 💔
OMG the Monty Python quote.
@EricIdle , your influence is everywhere.
I am elated to have an article in this year's Keeping the British End Up. I make the point that the West End and #broadway (extended 11 times!) musical Operation Mincemeat is a worthy addition to the James Bond universe.

Before you decide that you're not going to vote because you think your vote doesn't matter, please remember that MAGA is voting. And when MAGA's vote, it's not to improve the lives of other people, it's so that they can destroy the lives of people they don't like. So please vote.

Being furious that someone is gay or trans is like being furious that someone else ordered a different meal.
It is not your plate.
Stop acting like you have to eat it.

One of the reasons humanity forgets these amazing feats is that we don’t properly memorialize and mourn deaths from diseases. Tons of war memorials but where are the memorials for smallpox (with explanations about vaccines), for Covid, flu, etc?

Think about it: more women have accused Donald Trump of rape or some sort of sexual misconduct than the total number of trans women in college sports.
