Better to imagine a small number of polygamous kings who have a lot bigger things on their minds than becoming porn stars of either romantic soap operas or exotic bordellos; and sweep up a lot more things than just multiple partners in the process. Versus the larger number of pedestrian scavengers who are mobile across high-population networks built by those kings; which can be used by them as a secondary benefit. And who often enough have even more envy about the lack of heroic adventures than the ability to easily charm the girls. And thence on to civilisation (or not) where - not really related to any big deal about polygamy or monogamy in itself - stable relationships are the outcome of all classes of people gradually more consciously coalescing upon a more stable life-style where a middling stage of life where you settle in to a homey location with woman & children is a lot nicer for most people (including high performers) and so is already the goal before you even reach that stage of life, and is extended for as long as possible by focusing on your grandchildren (& less aggressive projects). It's like asking if everyone is an alcoholic because you see so many people of a certain age and living with a certain phase of life (& trying to hang onto it by a mobile life that they are just passengers on and did nothing to create overall) really indulging in drink. In reality, a certain level of blood-alcohol works out best (which is 0 most of the day); but most people could if they had no other life goals, limitless resources, and a little encouragement be a total alcoholic. It just so happens that the discrete number which allows men and women of most classes across most cultures to live as nicely & stable-ly for the longest period (& hang onto all the relationships & resources they pulled down) is an unchanging pair bond of a fertile 2. It has only recently been claimed that men get all the benefits of pair-bonding - as if all men were of the same character & class (& so all women; but in the new model women wish to emulate the former class divide 'by fucking everyone just like they imagine men did; but more conspicuously - to make a point men didn't care to as this wasn't their primary agenda'. And as if men having shrinking options to live dangerously (a good thing for most) & women being the majority in the job market (& everyone of a sluggish nature having the welfare system - with men being legally strongly encouraged to head that way by everything from Manager Karen Rights & Cartel Sreeni Monopolies) were anything but *extremely recent* ... in fact a very good way to end up dead in a ditch until a few decades ago.
