I spent a lot of time in my working life helping to promote others as they sought to achieve their goals and leave a legacy. I was happy to do it. But I thought there'd've been some reciprocity.

John Cleese is a British icon. An international symbol of our humour, wit, and spirit. I support him and his right to free speech 💯

When I was much younger I seem to have inadvertently accommodated or was nice to too many snakes. In the grass and elsewhere.

John Cleese, 86, is being targeted by activist group Deenified as he tours England with his Holy Grail stage show. The group has accused him on X of "using your platform to attack Islam" and "spreading dangerous misinformation," with one activist calling free speech "a convenient shield for anti-Muslim hostility." Cleese rejects the Islamophobe label entirely, calling himself "Islamosceptic," and has pointed out nobody ever called him "Christophobic" after Life of Brian. Islamic outlet 5Pillars has gone further still, explicitly demanding he be de-platformed. Rupert Lowe has already called this what it is: a pressure group trying to bully an 86-year-old man into silence over jokes and honest opinions. He's right, and he's right to tell Restore Britain to back Cleese publicly. These people don't want dialogue. They want submission. Every time someone caves to this kind of pressure, it teaches them the tactic works, and they come back harder next time for the next target. Cleese is refusing to bow, and every single person who values the right to criticise a religion without getting hounded for it should be standing directly behind him. Protect @JohnCleese, at all costs.

It just occurred to me that we know who the bad people are and there is plenty of evidence regarding their bad behavior. But somehow, it seems to be against the law to lock them up or do them any harm as they most flagrantly do to us. And many of them were brought here by other bad people in an effort to destabilize our way of life and they get U. S. Government benefits and living arrangements not offered to U. S. Citizens. This seems wrong to me. It seems unconstitutional. It seems against the law. Why can't something be done about this trend? Am I the only one troubled by this? ???

🇺🇸 One of the greatest flying stories ever told His spaceship’s brain died 100 miles above Earth. So he became the spaceship. May 16, 1963. Gordon Cooper was alone in Faith 7 — a metal capsule barely larger than a phone booth — circling the planet at 17,500 miles per hour. Twenty-two orbits. Then the warnings started. A faulty sensor said the capsule was falling. It wasn’t. He switched it off. Then a short circuit killed the automated guidance system. The system that kept the ship oriented. The system that was supposed to bring him home. Come in too shallow and the capsule skips off the atmosphere into the void. Come in too steep and it burns. The margin was fractions of a degree. Every computer built to hit that margin was dead. Cooper didn’t panic. He drew reference lines on his window with a grease pencil. He lined them up with the horizon. He used the stars he had memorized before launch. He set his wristwatch. He did the math in his head. Held the angle by eye. And when the moment came, he fired the retrorockets himself. The sky turned to fire. Plasma cut all communication. No radio. No radar. Just a man inside a fireball, trusting a pencil, a watch, and the stars. Then the parachutes opened. Faith 7 splashed down in the Pacific four miles from the recovery carrier — the most accurate landing in the Mercury program. The last backup system was never the software. It was him. 🇺🇸🚀
