Freddy Peralta's fastball is absolutely humming tonight. He hit 99 mph with 20" of iVB for a swing-and-miss in the Chase DeLauter at-bat. He's through three scoreless innings with a 50% Whiff% on the heater.

Is there a rookie advantage in the MLB? Similar to the TTO penalty, I wonder if rookies get a skill boost because the league isn’t familiar with their tendencies.

For hitters I think this effect would mostly be pitchers figuring out how to pitch to specific hitters and exposing their weaknesses league wide.

At first I thought I might not be able to parse salary ranges with Jev, but I made it possible by extracting numeric values from the description w/ regex and asking Jev to pick the correct values for upper/lower bounds of salary.
