ALT For years, the Arkansas Legislature has underfunded or failed to fund critical programs, like healthcare. At the same time, they have passed a series of tax cuts that mostly benefit a small percentage of Arkansans.
ALT But those income taxes are how we fund critical community services we all need to prosper: Healthcare Public schools Food assistance Infrastructure To name just a few.
ALT More than half the money our government collects to pay its bills and make investments in our communities comes from state income taxes. The tax cuts passed in the 2026 fiscal session will cost the state nearly $192 million this year and about $145 million each year after.
ALT As the Arkansas legislature meets for budget hearings, it's critical for them to keep in mind that there can be disastrous consequences of eliminating our state’s largest source of revenue. We can’t fund the state with zero.
