Yes, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if someone drinks alcohol, Allah will not accept their prayers for 40 days.
This does not mean they should stop praying. They must still pray every day on time. It only means they will not get any reward for those prayers.
If they truly regret it, stop drinking, and ask Allah for forgiveness, He can forgive them and accept their prayers again. And Allah knows best.
