Taunton’s Gracie Oliveira put Taunton ahead when she hit a 2-run home run in the third inning to make the score 5-4 which helped the Tigers to continue its stride that kept them in the lead for the rest of the game. Gracie Oliveira finished the game with a home run, single, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. Ashlyn Hebert led with 4 RBIs and had 3 hits (2 doubles, single) and 1 walk. Kaylee Lopes contributed with a strong multi-hit multi-base game with 3 hits (2 doubles, 1 single) scored 1 run and had 1 RBI. Taunton’ Victoria Corrao had 1 hit (single) and 1 walk. Taunton’s Bella Bourque had another legendary game in her career as she hit a double in the bottom of the eighth inning that scored Grace Simmons for the winning run. Bella Bourque also hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, had 2 singles and 5 RBIs in the win. Taunton’s Aniyah Bailey hit a solo home run, walked 2 times and had 1 RBI. Jay Gagnon had 2 hits (triple, single) and 2 RBIs. Kaylee Lopes had a multi-hit game with 1 double and 1 single. Mia Torres had 1 hit (single). Grace Simmons had 3 walks and 1 RBI. In a battle of 2 of the top teams in the state of Massachusetts high school softball, this may have been one of the best games in the 2026 season. Taunton led 3-0 to start the top of the sixth inning when King Philip rallied for 3 runs to tie the game 3-3. Taunton came back in the bottom of the sixth inning with 1 run to go ahead 4-3. King Philip then powered for 5 runs in the top of the seventh inning highlighted by a 2-run home by Ali Gil to take a 8-5 lead. Taunton did not give up or back down as they rose the occasion by scoring 4 runs highlighted by a 2-run home run by Bella Bourque and a 2-run triple by Jay Gagnon to tie the game 8-8 to send the game into extra innings. Taunton held King Philip scoreless after having two on base in the top of the eighth inning. Taunton’s Bella Bourque hit a double that scored Grace Simmons for the game winning hit and run.
