It's been 8 years since a gunman opened fire during Shabbat morning services at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, murdering 11 innocent people and injuring 7 others. The attack marked the deadliest act of antisemitism in U.S. history.
Today, the heartbreak of that horrific day remains. 11 innocent lives were stolen and an entire community was forever changed. We continue to mourn those so mercilessly taken from this world simply because they were Jewish.

Jewish and Israeli staff inside the UN system have reported antisemitism, exclusion, pressure to downplay their identity, and difficulty advancing professionally. ADL has received such accounts directly from staff across multiple UN agencies.
As @_MarinaRos told @JNS_org, a UN antisemitism plan exists and ADL provided significant input, but we have not seen real progress on the ground.
Addressing antisemitism credibly means addressing the problems reported inside the UN itself. A 67-year-old wheelchair-bound shop owner in Berlin was reportedly attacked on two consecutive evenings, starting on the third anniversary of Oct. 7, after he displayed posters condemning antisemitism and the Hamas massacre. One poster read "We will dance again." He says the attackers asked if he was Jewish.
No one should be targeted for standing against hate. Berlin national police are reportedly investigating. According to the J7 Task Force, Germany recorded 8,725 antisemitic incidents in 2025, up 215% since 2021. Those who commit antisemitic violence must always be held accountable.

Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists murdered over 1,200 people and took 251 hostages in the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.
Three years later, the horrors of the October 7 massacre are increasingly minimized, ignored or even justified.
Regardless of one’s politics, the deliberate murder and kidnapping of innocent men, women and children can never be tolerated or justified. Failing to unequivocally condemn the horrors of October 7 ultimately undermines the broader fight against terrorism.

.@NYCMayor Mamdani’s administration reportedly runs a private Signal chat with ~200 influencers and reporting shows at least one received a paid @NYCSanitation promotion, raising questions about taxpayer-funded messaging outside public view.
We know several influencers with this access have pushed antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric. For example: Ariana Jasmine Afshar, a fixture at Mamdani City Hall events, has claimed “the Israeli lobby” secretly controls the U.S. government, said Israel “bought” an election and called Israelis “baby killers.” These invoke classic antisemitic tropes, not mere political criticism.
City Hall shouldn't be providing a bigger megaphone for this kind of hate. The Mayor’s office needs to release the details of this program, chat and its participants to see what messages and messengers are being promoted from City Hall.
