Last season I started to record Aberdeen's performance at ten games across a few metrics. There are more advanced but this was set against averages for a 3rd place finish. First edition of 2026/27 at link below.

17 shots on Saturday for the Dons. xG is tilted based on Nisbet's pen and rebound.

33 crosses from the Dons on Sunday. So many from a deeper position, floated, meat and drink, even for Saints injury affected backline.

There was some positives at least in terms of the numbers but this did not lead to increased goalscoring opportunities and was impacted by St. Johnstone approach: 101 final-third entries: 24 box entries 13 corners 100 progressive passes 39 touches in the box

Wrote this before Sunday in which, amongst other stuff, I suggested maybe the league switch to more possession-based style could help Stephen Robinson. Unfortunately Simo Valakari didn’t get the memo. afc1903.com/p/its-the-princi…

A Ronseal performance from Robinson on Tuesday. Hoping to write about something other than pressing soon, but it was the clear them on Tuesday. More energy in midfield, forcing Mwell wide but stepping in right moments. Marshall seems to have a nose for when to do it.

Wee plug for my AFC stats project. 5+ years of data. Lots to dig into if you can be bothered. Probably a few bugs I’ve missed. stats.afc1903.com

Robinson switch to 4-3-3 and a more man-oriented higher press helped deny Kim’s space in 2nd half but was exposed for Rangers goal. Curtis drops in, initial pressure not aggressive enough, gaps too big between lines, back 4 too deep etc.

stats.afc1903.com/ updated after today’s loss. A nice one for those who share the Skovdahl opinion on statistics. Liam Morrison most completed passes. 2 of which actually went forward. Before we even get into the goal conceded.
