One initiative mentions work-ready jobseekers but the other does not. So is it National party policy that people who cannot work who are on jobseeker will have there benefits cut? People with disabilities or too sick to work punished further for it to reach surplus.
This might be the killer quote on this. If a government major party can’t elect their second ranked list candidate and finance minister into parliament then there is a significant switch. How much power will national command after the election if so weakened in their result.
It is an outcome allowed under current rules. However when it has been discussed being used in the past intentionally to inflate (instead of a side effect of actual voting) then it was pointed out both sides would end up doing it and it would simply inflate the number of MP’s.
This is the critical follow up detail that often gets lost. Really glad to see the follow up confirms systems are working and underscoring the issues with the proposals to block voting papers based on the same or similar matching.
Incredible. First @SecMullinDHS claimed that @DHSgov identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll. Then DHS officials said, no no no, that’s just people we flagged, here’s the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens.
All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.

This is truly a great man. He has invested more in Ukraine than 185 countries combined.
Meet Howard Buffett, Warren Buffett’s middle son. He is 71 years old. He dropped out of college three times. He drinks Dr Pepper and looks for a McDonald’s wherever he travels.
Since the beginning of the war, his foundation has become the largest private donor to Ukraine: $1.4 billion.
Over four years, he has personally visited Ukraine 27 times.
In April 2022, he saw burned-out agricultural machinery and called the president of John Deere:
“How many combines are available in Europe?”
“Fifteen. All of them were supposed to go to Russia.”
“I’ll take them all.”
Then came all the available New Holland equipment in Europe. Altogether, more than 100 tractors and combines were provided to Ukrainian farmers.
He even tested demining equipment himself - on his own farm in Illinois, detonating explosives beneath rollers. When a Ukrainian deputy minister expressed doubts, Buffett told him:
“Stop counting my tractors. If necessary, I’ll blow up a thousand of them.”
Andriy Stavnitser initially asked him for $1 million for Superhumans. Buffett asked how much was needed to build the entire center.
“$14 million.”
“Okay. And what do you expect in return?”
“Nothing. Build it.”
Today, his support for Superhumans has reached $77 million, and the center has treated more than 1,700 patients.
But his largest area of spending is neither agricultural machinery nor prosthetics.
It is food: 642 million meals.
And that is only part of it:
* 344,000 windows replaced after Russian attacks;
* 9 bridges, 4 power plants, 2,500 generators, and 18 DNA laboratories;
* Much of Bucha rebuilt with his funding.
“I already have more friends in Ukraine than I do at home,” he says.
He celebrates birthdays in Ukraine, comes for Christmas, and even has a Ukrainian godson.
Friends, this is truly a great man - someone who understands that he cannot take all his money with him when he leaves this world.
I simply want to thank him and wish him well.
Whatever else one may say, this is real help from a person who had no personal obligation to Ukraine.
He simply chose to help.

Replying to @StarTrekFleet
@StarTrekFleet if you are going to close someone’s ticket if your support team hasn’t attended to it after two days and blame the user maybe have a warning in advance of force closing the ticket and maybe don’t do it when the next response is due from your team.
I don’t think of myself as that old. Nor a Luddite. So don’t feel bad if you, like me, score 0 on this.
Maybe it’s time to align election days and have council elections run under the same processes as general elections. Might help turnout ;)

The Taxpayers’ Union is welcoming the Justice Committee’s call for urgent reform of local election voting, saying the Government must act now to protect confidence in our democracy.
Taxpayers’ Union spokesperson, Tyler Groenewald, said:
“The Justice Committee has called postal voting ‘no longer fit for purpose’. That should be the final warning. The Government needs to stop kicking the can down the road.
“Voters shouldn’t have to wonder whether their ballot made it to the ballot box or whether someone else got to it first. Democracy depends on secure elections."
I think you wrote national wrong. As we saw in budget documents released today National have 19.5 billion more bids for budget capital funds over the next three years than the allowance.
National just launched a game
