โIn clear, crisp prose, Wilson treats SCANNER as evidence of how our world is becoming increasingly science-fictional and how, as Philip K. Dick might say, the kipple is driving out the real.โ โMARK BOULD

I only learned about the movie Digger when I saw a news story that it was losing hundreds of millions of dollars. Then I saw people online saying it's actually good. So I went.
It is a very good movie, unlike anything I've seen before. It's a science fiction movie about how humanity will rebuild from civilizational collapse, and the lies we will tell ourselves to deal with it, disguised as a climate change polemic.
It's dark, thoughtful, made with passion by a ton of super-talented people, visually gorgeous, and really under my skin. There is no way anyone could have believed it would be profitable. It's a labor of love that actually works.
If you ever complained about Hollywood only making superhero movies, I sentence you to seeing it. Or Wildwood (by beloved animation studio Laika), coming out soon, which I fear will also be heavily punished for differentness.
Just watched Digger and can honestly say it is one of the best films I have ever seen, if not the best film I have ever seen. An absurdist farce of Shakespeare level quality. Up there for me with Barry Lyndon. Thank you to everyone involved in making it.
Continuing my Coen Bros marathon with Intolerable Cruelty. One of the few I hadn't seen before. I wasn't looking forward to it. I thought it would be another Hudsucker Proxy. Actually, it's a fine film. I even feel like the PI was a homage to Bukowski's pulp.
The Man Who Wasn't There feels like the Coen Bros most thoughtful film so far. Full of existential/absurdist concepts, as well as their trademark humour and a entertaining nod to crime noir. Another 5/5 I think.

I wonder what this dude's up to these days.
I'm back to watching every Coen Bros film in order after a bit of a hiatus. O Brother might be my favorite so far. It certainly has the best soundtrack and is without a doubt the best cinematic version of Homer's The Odyssey that I've seen recently.
