Read AWS CEO Matt Garman’s letter about why our nation can’t afford to lose the AI race, and wondering what to make of it? We get that; it's trying to say F the haters while announcing a community benefit program that’s supposed to address some of the haters’ biggest concerns.
The wtfs: the race framework and cherrypicking risk, vagueness around average data center size, the decision to ignore gas, the idea that this is all a favor private industry is doing us, the lack of choice.
But that's just a TLDR. Read our full response on Medium 🥰amazonemployees4climatejusti…
Amazon Employees For Climate Justice retweeted
So let's recap:
- @AMZNforClimate reports show Amazon's emissions have *increased* despite its climate pledge
- The company doesn't know how to reach net-zero emissions
- Execs apparently think we're stupid enough to believe they care about the climate

Shocked and horrified over the death of two warehouse worker colleagues in India. We demand accountability.
Solidarity with the workers who knew them, and with Amazon India Workers Union's complaint about this serious violation of life.
🚨 Two workers died in an Amazon warehouse fire in Haldwani, India. @AiwuInd is demanding accountability & a full investigation into workplace safety. No one should lose their life just for going to work. #MakeAmazonPay thehindubusinessline.com/com…
Remember these brave folks?
After stating that they respect their coworkers’ right to express their opinions, Amazon told these workers they were being "investigated".
Imagine if GM were to harass employees who suggested that seat belts would be a good idea.
Very proud of our members who testified today to call for ambitious regulations on data centers ❤️🔥 Let’s listen to workers and imagine how to make an AI buildout better for working people and local communities

To anyone paying attention, this dynamic is also familiar.
Amazon and other tech companies claim to believe in democracy…. yet behind closed doors, they have pushed against regulation on data centers.

If you believe in the democratic process, please join our fight to ensure companies like Amazon can’t get away with silencing us.
We become more powerful with every single person that joins.

“I had this rising sense of anger that Amazon is attempting to infringe on my rights to speak out politically in my city,” he said. “If we allow corporations to decide which speech is or is not allowed, that absolutely hurts democracy.” 💪 nytimes.com/2026/06/18/techn…

Proud to be organizing with our warehouse coworkers to get ICE out of Amazon! amazonclimatejustice.org/ice…

Why is Amazon so mad about us talking to our coworkers off the clock in a non-work area?
Maybe it’s because they’re afraid that we are standing with @AMZNforClimate to spread the word about their shady connections to ICE.
If you work at Amazon, join us!

Great article on tech workers, cafeteria workers, and solidarity.
tl;dr—when companies don't take care of their workers, we'll take care of each other.
