3 DAYS TO GO!
The countdown is on to the 2nd Annual Conference on Credit Ratings, taking place on 5–6 October 2026 in Port Louis, Mauritius, setting the stage for a landmark week for Africa’s credit ratings agenda.
With an estimated US$4 trillion in domestic capital held by African institutions, the conversation is not only about closing Africa’s financing gap it is about unlocking the continent’s own capital and strengthening Africa’s position within the global financial architecture.
Mauritius awaits. The conversation continues. #CreditRatings #Africa #APRM #Mauritius2026 #AfCRA
Walked into the CEO’s office @APRM_MarieRose and caught her in full preparation mode! 😄
Her message? “6 days to go!”
The countdown to the launch of the Africa Credit Rating Agency (AfCRA) is on, and the excitement is building!
At the webinar on 1 October 2026, Mr. Dalmar Jama delivered the keynote address on behalf of H.E. Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre, Chief Executive Officer of the APRM Continental Secretariat. The address emphasised that legislation alone is not enough to protect whistleblowers and must be supported by safe reporting channels, safeguards against retaliation and a culture that recognises speaking out as public service. Her Excellency called for stronger legal frameworks, greater awareness and institutional capacity to put these protections into practice, helping to build trust in institutions and strengthen accountability in the fight against corruption.

This morning, on 1 October 2026, the APRM hosted a webinar on International and Continental Perspectives on Whistle-blower Protection to discuss how people who report wrongdoing can be better protected. The conversation drew on contributions from Charity H. Nchimunya of the African Union’s anti-corruption board and Kareem Rasheed Olawale of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria, alongside the research experience of Prof. Christian Hauser in whistleblowing.
Bringing these perspectives together, the exchange connected the practical challenges of protecting whistleblowers with the policies and good practices needed to address them, exploring how effective protection can strengthen transparency and accountability in the fight against corruption.

In her vote of thanks,@DCP_Haddadi , Deputy Chairperson of the @_AfricanUnion Commission, highlighted the AU’s ambition under Moonshot 7 of Agenda 2063’s Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan: positioning Africa as an influential global player.
She underscored the role of the Africa High-Level Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in advancing this ambition by enabling African countries to shape development policies, strengthen technical cooperation and drive progress across key sectors.
The vision remains clear: an integrated Africa, strengthened by economic and political cooperation and increasingly influential in the global order.

Africa has solutions. Our task is to share them, scale them and turn them into impact.
This was my message at the APRM High-Level Dialogue on South-South and Triangular Cooperation, convened on the margins of #UNGA81 in New York.
With just over four years to 2030, we must accelerate action. Agenda 2063 and the SDGs must be pursued as one, with African countries learning from one another and building partnerships that respond to our own priorities.
We are already walking the talk, advancing AfCRA, strengthening governance support and expanding peer learning and knowledge-sharing across our Member States.
South-South cooperation must be African-owned, Member State-led and driven by results.
#UNGA81 #SouthSouthCooperation #Agenda2063 #SDGs #AfCRA
Closing the dialogue, H.E. Navid Hanif, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development, highlighted Africa’s strategic role in shaping UN policies and programmes.
He also commended the longstanding cooperation between the UN and APRM in strengthening institutional capacities across the continent in support of the #SDGs and #Agenda2063.

Credit ratings have real implications for Africa’s access to finance. While other emerging regions average around BB, Africa averages between B- and B - a gap that can influence investor eligibility and increase financing costs.
The African Credit Rating Agency (AfCRA) is part of Africa’s effort to strengthen the continent’s credit rating architecture and bring greater African perspective and context to credit assessments.

As the dialogue concluded in New York, one message stood out: South-South & Triangular Cooperation must move beyond individual initiatives and become part of how African countries plan, finance and implement development.
From stronger national frameworks to youth-led innovation, African countries can deepen cooperation by sharing solutions, expertise and experience.
As 2030 approaches, stronger African ownership and partnerships will be critical to accelerating the #SDGs and #Agenda2063.
