Thanks @JAMANetworkOpen for highlighting our study examining variation & equity in pediatric inpatient subspecialty consultation, and to @CHOP_CPCE for supporting this work. Excited for next steps! @IritMD @EvanDaltonMD @chris_bonafide @MRothbergMD @CCF_PHMFellows
Consultation of inpatient subspecialists varies >2-fold among pediatric hospitalists, and is associated with private insurance and 0-2 years of attending experience; there are opportunities to improve value + equity. @ASKGoldberger ja.ma/3JxhMHT

Really enjoyed catching up with our incredible PHM fellows outside of work, and not on Zoom. We missed Drs. Pumphrey and @tenneysoeiro but are planning to make this a recurring event! @PHMFellowships @drinkspindrift
Great @JHospMedicine study adding to the growing literature that will help us understand and optimize consultation use in hospital medicine!

Preventing hospital-associated disability helps ⬇️ DC to nursing facilities, readmissions, and death!
Physical Therapists can help with this but
➡️ usually a constrained resource 😕
For patients with high mobility scores (like AM-PAC)...maybe we can skip the PT consult?

This #QI study was successful in ⬇️use of physical restraints in hospitalized patients by more than 50% at a single children’s hospital through use of multifaceted interventions, with sustained results and no change in balancing measure of staff injuries!
