And much lower disk usage will be nice lol
Rust with the compilation speed of Go will go hard.

Found a new project to burn my Claude usage on. Crazy how little usage Opus 5.5 uses compared to earlier versions.

The next great "language for agents" should be: - As fast as Rust - As little design space as Go - Have the strictest type/verification system ever written Bend seems like an interesting first effort

What's up with all the typescript type checking dick measuring contest going on lately? It's like we all collectively decided it's suddenly the most interesting problem to solve LOL

Wow today's haze is exceptionally bad. Breathing actually feels taxing.

Imagine studying CS right now and having your syllabus change literally every week because a faster or more efficient algo is being discovered faster than your Prof can explain how it works...
Honestly stunned by result 128 Shortest Common Superstring went from 3x optimal to 7/3 over 35 years of human work. OpenAI's model got it to exactly 2. And it didn't use greedy, the algorithm the 1988 conjecture was about. Lean-checked I animated the proof in 6 minutes:

We are one! Honestly it's been great fun so far and we wouldn't have gotten here without the community - your feedback has contributed to the development of several unique features. Teams like marketing and QC also made it so that we had all the support needed. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and we're just getting started! Give us a go, and let me know how we can improve the experience for you!

I'm trying to learn to cook and Gemini is actually the best at making random recipes work and fixing my mistakes from a picture. Other LLMs are nowhere close LOL. We need a CookBench.
There’s a rank specifically for Google now? 😭😭

Now is a better time than ever before to be a generalist. Ditch mastering one niche and start asking your agents to make no mistakes, but know enough to know when they're making a mistake.
i feel so torn up that SO MUCH of my knowledge is now useless? every single C trick i've ever learned. my encyclopaedic knowledge of the verilog standard. all the maths i ever learned. what was it all for. :( my entire pre-LLM output is like a few months of clauding. like wtf.

Rust is a good prompt compilation target for the moment, but so is C++. And soon assembler. Then microcode. Myopic to think we're going to stop the agentic drill bit until it reaches computing bedrock.

I've always seen coding as a means to an end. Is this why I'm not at all affected by AI? What exactly are the software engineers in my timeline so afraid of or so tilted by?

It does seem like pushing back against management as software devs in the age of AI is a lost art. I have never had a job or a project that wasn't in the shape of "what corners can we cut so we can ship this last week? Is that a prototype, welcome to production..." It was my job to push back and set pace and I don't see how that is not the case still today

Interesting observation: Opus 5.5 reaches for bash+python waaaay more often to edit files than the edit tool. Did a small benchmark and the bash calls actually use 5-10% less tokens than the edit tool. Time to delete the edit tool?

The speed at which Opus 5.5 works is insane. Gives the same "wow this shit is crazy" feels when Opus 4.6 first launched.
