Grateful to Rob & Jody @MartelsMedalMou for turning my medals around in less than a week and getting my @GGCanada Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers mounted before Remembrance Day services and vigils. Fast, efficient, and professional service by Veterans serving Veterans. 🫡🇨🇦🙏🏼

It was a pleasure to join the Royal Canadian Military Institute’s Police Appreciation Night to recognize our men and women in uniform and honour Mario Di Tommaso for his service with the Toronto Police Service and as Deputy Solicitor General.
Ontario’s police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe and our government will always have their backs.

The 2026 Poppy Campaign officially begins tomorrow! And there's no better way to mark the occasion than going to see the Poppy Drop display cascade down the Senate building.
Join us tomorrow for the annual display. From October 24 - November 11, digital Poppies will cascade down the Senate building to honour the fallen who fought for our freedom. The virtual wall of honour will also be displayed on one of the columns of the Senate.
The Poppy Drop displays will run every evening from 6:30 - 9:30 pm ET except for November 10th and 11th, when they will run until midnight ET.

A solemn and emotional moment at Rideau Hall today.
During the First Poppy Presentation to the Governor General, those gathered paused for a moment of silence to honour the lives lost and those injured in the tragedy at CFB Wainwright.
As we prepare to enter this year's Poppy Campaign, this moment was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve our country.
Our hearts are with the families, loved ones and military community affected by this tragedy.
We Will Remember Them.

Nelson’s Stall Plate, as a Knight of the Bath, in @wabbey, to mark Trafalgar Day!
Apologies to @HMNBClyde that I could not propose the ‘Immortal Memory’ for this year’s Trafalgar commemoration.
Lord Nelson’s motto ‘PALMAM QUI MERUIT FERAT’ means, “Let him who has earned the reward bear it” … &, in that vein, my best wishes to the @RoyalNavy, all at Faslane and @HMS_Forth

Day Two of Badge of Life Canada’s Post-Traumatic Growth Event was every bit as powerful as Day One.
Two days of meaningful conversations, lived experiences, uncomfortable truths, and a shared commitment to doing better.
Carmen Theobald brought a powerful perspective on connection, healing, and the importance of creating space for growth.
Our incredible peer supporters reminded us of the power of lived experience, human connection, and what happens when people genuinely show up for one another.
Our expert panelists, Michelle Zare, Dr. Katie Stewart, and David Hurst, challenged us to look beyond the conversations and examine what is actually happening within our workplaces.
Two themes continued to surface: sanctuary trauma and moral injury.
These are not simply clinical terms. They represent real experiences of people who have been injured within the very organizations and systems they trusted to support them.
We cannot continue to talk about psychologically safe workplaces while failing to address the leadership, organizational cultures, policies, and practices that contribute to psychological harm.
Accountability must be more than a conversation. Psychological safety must be more than a policy. Leadership must be more than a title.
We need leaders who are willing to listen, acknowledge what isn’t working, make difficult decisions, and take meaningful action.
And here’s my challenge to management and senior leadership across public safety organizations: We expect to see more of you in the room next year.
Leadership is not simply a position you hold. It is a responsibility to the people you lead. If we genuinely want healthier workplaces, managers and senior leaders need to be willing to show up, listen, learn, challenge their own thinking, and understand the impact their decisions have on the people entrusted to their care.
October 14 and 15, 2027. Mark your calendars. We want to see more managers and organizational leaders at the table, not just talking about change, rather learning how to lead it.
Our public safety personnel and their families deserve workplaces where dignity, trust, compassion, and accountability are demonstrated every day.
Stop telling people what you’re going to do. Start doing it.
To everyone who attended, shared their experiences, challenged perspectives, and came with an open mind and a willingness to learn, thank you.
The real measure of these two days will not be what was said in the room. It will be what changes when we leave it.
We can do better. We must do better. And leadership has a responsibility to make that happen.

World Mental Health day reminds us of the importance of taking care of our mental health – both on and off the job.
For those who serve our communities, this line of work can be challenging and take an emotional toll. It is ok to ask for help, talk about your feelings, and take the time to look after yourself and your colleagues.
Let’s continue the conversation and keep supporting one another, break the stigma and remind each other, our families and communities that you never have to face it alone.
Your mental health matters/ Today and every day.
