일본 시골 여행이 꿈이라 혼자 나가노 쪽으로 가는 완행열차를 탔음
창밖으로 논이랑 산만 계속 지나가니까 나도 모르게 잠들어 버렸음
눈을 떴을 때 열차가 어느 작은 역에 서 있었고 비몽사몽간에 내릴 역인 줄 알고 캐리어를 끌고 내렸음
문이 닫히고 열차가 떠난 뒤에야 역 이름이 다르다는 걸 알았음
시계를 보니 오후 4시 12분이었고 역에는 역무원도 없었음
벽에 붙은 시간표를 보니 다음 열차는 6시 10분이었음
멍하니 서 있는데 역 앞에 작은 트럭 한 대가 서더니 할아버지 한 분이 내리셨음
할아버지는 나랑 캐리어를 번갈아 보시더니 활짝 웃으며 일본어로 뭔가를 물어보셨음
하나도 못 알아들었지만 도와주시겠다는 말 같아서 "하이" 하고 고개를 숙였음
그러자 할아버지가 내 캐리어를 번쩍 들어 짐칸에 싣고 조수석 문을 열어 주셨음
나는 휴대폰에 내가 묵을 시내 호텔 이름을 띄워서 보여 드렸고 할아버지는 "오케 오케" 하며 출발하셨음
그런데 트럭은 시내 쪽이 아니라 산 쪽으로 들어갔음
10분쯤 달리자 작은 마을이 나왔고 트럭은 마을회관 앞에 멈췄음
회관 앞에는 아이들이랑 어른들 수십 명이 줄지어 서 있었음
그리고 회관 벽에 커다란 현수막이 걸려 있었음
