Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.

Indiana House Republicans keep the majority, but a caucus of about 54 is a very different chamber than one of 70. A few thoughts from a parliamentary perspective on what that means for the 2027 session.

Congress passed the “No Surprises Act” in 2020 to protect patients from surprise bills — but the legislation meant to rein in those costs has created another expensive problem. A loophole has allowed doctors and private equity firms to rake in “many multiples of what a fair, typical in-network rate would be,” Leland Robbins, who works at data transparency startup Turquoise Health, told CBS News’ Anna Schecter. And as Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone, the lead sponsor of the bill in Congress, plans to introduce legislation to overhaul the system, consumers could still see the impacts of the loophole during open enrollment, Robbins said.

AHA says Elevance’s push for accurate off-campus billing could force hospitals to stop providing outpatient care. Genuinely impressed by how quickly they went from “we don’t do this” to “if we don’t do this we can’t operate.” healthcaredive.com/news/elev…

You don't catch me applauding health insurers often... BUT - Credit where it's due: @ElevanceHealth is getting ahead of a new federal requirement & taking steps now to curb dishonest hospital billing practices that drive up costs. More transparency. More accountability. Lower costs for patients. My take here - americansforprosperity.org/b…

The No Surprises Act was designed to protect Americans from unexpected medical bills. But its arbitration system has created a new problem. Federal officials projected about 22,000 disputes a year. In 2025, there were 2.56 million. Arbitration awards are now nearly four times the median in-network rate. When government creates incentives that make it more profitable for providers to stay out of network, the result is predictable: higher costs, higher premiums, and less competition. We should keep the protections against surprise medical bills while fixing the broken system behind them. Patients need transparency, choice, and real competition, not a federal arbitration process that drives costs higher. This analysis from @Paragon_Inst is well worth reading: paragoninstitute.org/newslet…

Great to see @WSJopinion writing on this issue. Congress had good intentions when it passed the No Surprises Act, but the results are largely a disaster. The status quo is untenable, and policymakers need to address the insane arbitration process. wsj.com/opinion/surprise-bil…

Pacers have never picked first and haven’t picked top 3 in a draft since the BERLIN WALL was still standing. This team just went to NYK and played starters almost 40 minutes to beat them. To act like the Pacers are doing anything different than team’s in past years is unreal
"I wish Adam Silver would've fined them $5M for disrespecting the game of basketball. Let's stop being nice about it and throwing out the word 'tanking.' No, it's actually throwing games." —@KendrickPerkins weighs in on the Jazz and Pacers being fined for sitting healthy players 👀
