Hopping on in a minute for a live Cowboys chat, if you care to stop by.

Playing not to lose is a horrific mentality to take into a game against a 2-5 team.
Unbelievable...
Jerry Jones on @1053thefan about concerns that Brian Schottenheimer had a conservative playcalling strategy.
“We were playing a game to avoid turnovers the best we could. The gameplan you saw was doing that. You can call that conservative if you want to. The game plan was based on us running the ball better than when we ran it. And when they did stack it really good … it’s certainly based on us giving [Dak Prescott] better protection.”
The Cowboys won the turnover differential, but lost the game.
When you’ve lost Irvin like this, it’s not good.

I called the agent of a veteran coach to see if Jerry Jones had even picked up the phone and poked around on him during the Schottenheimer hiring cycle and he laughed and said “Jerry won’t pay 13M and up and that’s the starting point”
It’s well known and well documented just surprised he actually finally said it on record today.

The Cowboys locker room-gate is nothing. Sometimes players are not around to chat. In this case, a meeting ended earlier than expected and played bolted for home before PR could get with everyone. In my 17 years on the beat I’ve seen some empty locker rooms the day after losses. I’ve also been yelled at by some players or gotten some dirty looks. Part of the business.
Have a good night.
Not saying 2028 'is' the time to move on, but given the numbers, which still aren't great, 2028 seems where if Dallas wanted to swallow a lot of money ($31 million with a post June 1 trade, would save $55 million), it could.
A pre-June 1 trade in 2028 would see Dallas eat $55m.

You should venture over to look at his contract and the out options
2028 would be the absolute worst time for them to part ways

Just give me pederson. I’ve always thought he was better than what he’s gotten credit for.
Or bring me Steichen
You would think before they make statements like this, they would do a little homework.

Seems to be alot of folks that need to figure that out in the media that actually cover the cowboys

The Cowboys had a player development meeting that got out before media was brought down to the locker room. Media relations said we should’ve been brought down earlier than we were
Schottenheimer says it could be a few weeks for Malachi Lawrence with an ankle injury, but more testing to come.

It will 100% be a market overcorrection towards experience. The question is whether Dak will be allowed to voice his opinion on the experienced hands who walk in or if it'll be a "This is the guy, roll with it" decision like McCarthy was. You'd presume he's going to want input.
IMO, Jerry did it Schotty's way this offseason, I have a hard time believe he will go a similar path.
Look for the next HC to be a veteran with years of experience.

Right he's going to be here. The question is whether they'll hire the next guy sans Dak (Mike McCarthy) or with Dak's input/push (Schotty).
Exactly. Dak isn't going anywhere until 2028 given his contract.
After that? All options will be considered.
I don't think you can sit here today, after what has transpired this season, and have Schottenheimer back in 2027.
Barring a huge winning streak, which is unlikely.

Dak is here the next 2 yrs.
Now if they still have Schotty around, I don’t think it’s going tk be as pretty. And could see him demanding out in 2028
