Call it the Qatari coalition
There's an excellent way out of Israel's political quagmire. It requires Bibi to reach out and form a coalition with Mansour Abbas. No, really.

The idea that opposition voters shouldn’t object to Bibi so long as Bibi jettisons his partners, as if he himself is not ultimately responsible for everything they object to, is intellectually dishonest. Anyone pushing for it should at least be transparent about what it means.
Tonight is the 105th yahrzeit of R. David Zvi Hoffmann, who represents my ideal of a broad-minded, farsighted, humble, rigorous, gadol ba-Torah.
You'll hear about some other yahrzeits this week. RDZH is basically the opposite.
So in Poland they use checks, and in Czechia they use polls...
Replying to @breslovchosid
very similar in Poland except we get ballot with checkboxes, you place an x in a checkbox next to candidate you support and fold in the paper and throw to the ballot box. You can show your ID or use an app on the phone to confirm the identity before you receive ballot at an assigned polling station. Voting results come over to a central system that afternoon and throughout the night, partial votes are being updated live on a map, you can audit and review all the data. Very transparent and reliable.

Can you imagine being paid to post the exact same tweet year after year? What a gig!
I like HaTzibbur HaCharedi and would encourage anyone who is considering voting for another partying the Netanyahu Bloc to vote for them.
I’m not Charedi: Here’s why I’m voting for HaTzibbur HaCharedi 🧵
I’m worried about where Israel is heading. Tensions between factions seem to be growing higher and higher, and in many ways it seems like we’re on the cusp of a civil (or not so civil) war. We need a more sustainable way forward, both economically and in terms of national security, and I don’t think we can get there by treating a whole community as the enemy.
That’s why I’m voting for HaTzibbur HaCharedi. What draws me to the movement is its emphasis on אחריות, responsibility. We all have a responsibility to the country and to one another, and that means finding ways for more people to participate in building Israel’s future. I don’t agree with every position, and I’m not expecting the movement to solve everything overnight. But I think the approach it represents is important, and worth supporting even if, like me, you’re not Charedi.

So it'll be a team that never won the World Series or a team that hasn't won since 1948. That's nice.

This article by Shai Secunda - interviewing a diverse array of 8 Israelis who are 2 degrees of separation from him - is brilliant. Really brings home how fault lines run through close, crowded neighborhoods and families. jewishreviewofbooks.com/cont… @JRBooks
"We have free speech and so he can express his opinion" is basically the worst defense of any public statement.
Like it or lump it.
No, @TuckerCarlson, it's not a secret.
There's a political poster in my sukkah.
I picked it up off the ground in Kfar Aza in November 2023. Ofir Libstein, running for reelection as Shaar Hanegev Regional Council head, was murdered defending his community on Oct 7.
The party name means "Continuing Together."
This is so cool.
Question: is the mikvah still kosher?
