1,136 TO ZERO. That's the scoreboard in Chicago. From July 2024 through June 2026, the Chicago Police Department got roughly 1,136 ICE detainers, warrants, and release notices. They handed over exactly zero people. It gets worse. A House Judiciary report says Chicago's police intelligence center emailed ICE in October 2024 and told them to "cease any further immigration-related requests moving forward." They told federal law enforcement to stop calling. Look at what that bought Chicago. In January 2025, CPD ignored an ICE detainer and released an illegal alien from Ecuador who'd been arrested for assault and luring a child. Two weeks later, he was charged in a robbery and murder inside a Chicago home. The Cook County Sheriff's Office released 408 criminal illegal aliens with active ICE detainers in 2025, and not one was transferred on a detainer. The Illinois Department of Corrections let nearly 100 more walk. One of them was a Mexican national sentenced to 30 years for attempted murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and aggravated kidnapping. This is JB Pritzker's Illinois. How many more victims before Democrats admit their sanctuary laws are getting Americans killed?

25 years ago, I drew this cartoon based on John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." Three hundred forty-three firefighters laid down their lives on 9/11. garyvarvel.substack.com

September 11 should never be reduced to just a date on the calendar. It was a day when thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives, families were shattered, and our country was changed forever. It was also a day when firefighters, police officers, paramedics, flight crews, office workers, and ordinary citizens showed the world what courage really looks like. Some never made it home. Some gave everything trying to save a stranger. Some carried the scars of that day for the rest of their lives. So today we remember all of them. The mothers and fathers. The sons and daughters. The workers. The passengers. The first responders. The heroes. We honor the lives taken. We honor the courage shown. And we promise never to forget. God bless every soul we lost on 9/11, and God bless the heroes who ran toward the danger.

Some on the Left said Charlie Kirk deserved to die for his words. Now some say Lindsay Clancy deserves freedom after kiIIing her three children. When did speech become a death sentence and murdering kids become excusable? Our world is upside down.

Pritzker tax hikes will continue until you vote him out of office. It's not that hard to understand folks!
BREAKING: @GovPritzker's tollway board unanimously approved the largest increase on tolls in Illinois history, despite 76% of public comments opposing the plan. The increase will come out to about $225 in extra costs for a typical commuter, starting Jan. 1. Starting in 2029, tolls will automatically increase every two years based on inflation without another board vote. The @ILTollway's board members were appointed by Pritzker, who is also an ex officio member, and include the president-business manager of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 and the business manager of the Chicago & Vicinity Laborers’ District Council.

JB Pritzker lost the Bears to Indiana, then turned around and squeezed Illinoisans for higher sales taxes and record toll hikes. We lost the team and STILL got robbed.

.@SecDuffy, while you're in Iowa, please come to Illinois and review how driver's licenses are being issued under @Giannoulias and the Illinois DMV. According to court testimony, my daughter Katie's killer could not read, write, or speak English or Spanish and had no formal education. Yet he was issued an Illinois driver's license and allowed to drive on our roads. Illinois families deserve answers. How was he tested? In what language? What documents were accepted? What safeguards were in place? We need full transparency and a complete accounting of this process before more families suffer tragedies like ours. If Illinois officials won't provide answers, can you or @TheJusticeDept help ensure accountability and restore public trust? Katie deserved better. Illinois families deserve better.
Iowa feeds and fuels the WORLD and it’s home to its largest truck stop @Iowa80Truckstop 🚚🌽 Being here with @RepMMM reminds me why @POTUS needs strong members of Congress as teammates in our fight AGAINST industry FRAUD and FOR AMERICAN TRUCKERS who serve as the backbone of this country 🇺🇸

84 years ago today, a pilot running out of fuel made a decision that won the Pacific War. Most Americans have never heard his name. June 4, 1942. Six months after Pearl Harbor, Japan's navy is undefeated. Four of the carriers that burned Pearl, Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, and Hiryu, are steaming toward Midway to finish off the US Pacific Fleet. At 7:52 AM, Wade McClusky launches from USS Enterprise leading 32 Dauntless dive bombers. Here's the detail nobody mentions: McClusky is a fighter pilot. He'd been given the air group weeks earlier and had barely flown a dive bomber in combat. Now he's leading every SBD the Enterprise has at the most important target in the Pacific. 9:20 AM. He arrives at the intercept point where the Japanese fleet is supposed to be. Empty ocean. Nothing for miles. The Japanese had turned. Nobody knew where. And now McClusky owns the worst math problem in naval aviation: his fuel is bleeding away, and every minute he keeps searching, he condemns more of his own pilots to ditch in open water where nobody will find them. Doctrine is clear. Turn back. McClusky keeps going. He works a search pattern, squeezing miles out of dying fuel tanks. 9:55 AM. Far below, a single Japanese destroyer is cutting a white scar across the ocean at flank speed. It's the Arashi, racing to rejoin the fleet after depth-charging the American submarine Nautilus. Think about that. A failed sub attack is about to give away the entire Japanese navy. McClusky reads the wake like an arrow and follows it. 10:02 AM. The horizon fills with the entire Japanese strike force. Four carriers, their decks crammed with planes being refueled and rearmed. Fuel lines snaking everywhere. Bombs stacked in the open. And here's the miracle: the sky above them is empty. Minutes earlier, American torpedo squadrons had attacked at sea level and been annihilated. Torpedo 8 lost all 15 planes. One survivor, Ensign George Gay, watched what came next while hiding under his seat cushion in the water. Those doomed pilots dragged every Japanese fighter down to the waves. The door upstairs was wide open. 10:22 AM. McClusky pushes over from 14,500 feet. Both squadrons follow him down onto Kaga. It's actually a mistake, doctrine said split the targets, but Lt. Dick Best catches it mid-dive, pulls out with two wingmen, and goes after Akagi alone. His single bomb pierces the flight deck into the packed hangar. It's enough. By 10:28, Kaga, Akagi, and Soryu, the third hit simultaneously by Yorktown's bombers, are floating infernos. Six minutes. Three carriers that attacked Pearl Harbor, gone. Hiryu follows them to the bottom that evening. The cost of McClusky's gamble was real. Many Enterprise bombers never made it home, some shot down, others swallowed by the sea when their tanks ran dry. McClusky himself was jumped by two Zeros on the way out, took five bullets through his shoulder, and still flew his shot-up Dauntless back to the Enterprise. Admiral Nimitz said McClusky's decision "decided the fate of our carrier task force and our forces at Midway." Japan never won another major battle. One borrowed pilot. One destroyer's wake. One choice to keep flying when every gauge said go home.
