Clare Davies-Jones joined Afasic in Nov 1996 as the Development Officer for North East London.
During her time with Afasic Clare was instrumental in developing a number of key projects that went on to be replicated across the country.

A year ago, we all came together to call for better support for children and young people with SEND. Many of those concerns remain, and the needs of disabled children have not gone away.

Developmental Language Disorder is a hidden but common disability that affects 1 in 14 people causing difficulties understanding & using language for no known reason. The theme for 2026 is Together for DLD. Working together we can build a better world for all with DLD.

My relationship with Afasic dates back over 30 years when my son George was born. By 12 months old it was obvious that his communication was not developing as it should. In particular, his speech was delayed.
