#CFTC’s latest update shows a mixed bag for managed money traders in Chicago. Wheat, corn and soybean positions remain on the short side, but corn shorts were reduced by 15K lots, to 29K lots short. Soybeans and wheat positioning by this group both extended their net shorts.
Traded #wheat reported through the UKs #Corn_Returns for W/E 10th October show 164Kt, of which the majority was traded for the nearby month. Total #barley reported sat at 40Kt and #oats 11Kt, bringing total weekly reporting of grains to 215Kt, slightly below the previous week.
Latest CFTC data shows another week whereby the managed money crowd reduced their net short CBOT positions in the wheat, corn and soybeans markets.
GB Corn Returns data for W/E 3rd October shows 242Kt grains were reported. This is the largest weekly total tonnage reported since mid-May, likely as farmers perhaps take advantage of the recent lift in prices.
Latest UK Met Office anomaly maps for September, for key grain areas, shows a mixed picture for temperature deviation from ‘normal’, but nothing particular of note. Rainfall levels were substantially above normal, except for Scotland and sunshine levels below normal.
Corn Returns data for GB cereals trade showed 155Kt grains were reported through the system for the week ending 26th September, slightly more than the previous week, but 63Kt less than a fortnight ago.
