Deeply saddened by the tragic incident near Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, involving an #EUFOR helicopter, which claimed three lives and left twelve people injured. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of those who lost their lives and the Government and people of #Italy. Our thoughts are also with all those injured, to whom we wish a swift and full recovery. Our relations have steadily expanded and deepened in recent years, opening promising prospects for more concrete cooperation across a range of areas of mutual interest, including stronger people-to-people ties, tourism, trade and economic cooperation. The joint efforts towards the establishment of the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank, a multilateral financial mechanism designed to support the development of defence, security and resilience capabilities, offer a further opportunity to deepen our cooperation in these strategically important areas.

On my invitation, I met today with the Ambassadors of the European Union Member States in #Albania for an open and substantive exchange on recent developments in the country. I underlined the Government’s unwavering commitment to democratic freedoms, including the fundamental right to peaceful asembly, while stressing an equally fundamental principle: violence, vandalism and attacks against public or private property can never be accepted as legitimate means of political or any other form of expression. This principle applies in Albania, as it does everywhere in #Europe. We also discussed the importance of preserving institutional stability, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring that all actions by public authorities remain #lawful and #proportionate. Dialogue, to which the #Government remains open anytime, anywhere and with anyone not involved in acts of violence, is a democratic value and the best way to bridge differences, address concerns and move forward together. At this important moment for Albania, our European path remains, more than ever, a strategic national objective. Difficult moments should strengthen our resolve, not distract us from the reforms, democratic standards and responsibilities that come with our ambition to join the European Union. Pleased to meet with representatives of Koning Willem II for an open and substantive exchange on Albania’s European accession journey, our bilateral partnership with the #Netherlands, and the important role of public affairs professionals in fostering informed, inclusive and effective policymaking. During an open and foccussed discussions, I expressed Albania’s sincere appreciation for the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ principled and longstanding support for strengthening our democratic institutions and consolidating the rule of law. As Albania moves with determination towards #European Union membership, our focus remains firmly on delivering credible, tangible and irreversible reforms. Becming an EU member cannot be a purely institutional or bureaucratic excercise. It requires also the active ownership, scrutiny and sustained engagement of citizens, the private sector and civil society. We also explored opportunities to expand people to people contacts, professional exchanges, institutional knowledge-sharing and bilateral economic ties. Building lasting connections between our institutions, professionals and societies strengthens the foundations of our partnership and of our shared European future. #Albania2030

I had the pleasure of addressing the 14th EU-WB6 Political Directors Meeting, organised today, in #Albania. My key messages 👇 The geopolitical ground is shifting beneath us. Old certainties are being tested, alliances recalibrated, and an international order we had come to regard as relatively predictable is increasingly marked by instability, strategic competition and uncertainty. In this environment, our response must be twofold: we need democratic resilience at home, firmly anchored in the rule of law, and a merit-based #enlargement process pursued with determination as a strategic investment for both candidate countries and EU Member States. The #security of Europe and the Western Balkans is one and indivisible. Enhanced CFSP and CSDP cooperation is about far more than ticking boxes. We share the same roof, and when the weather turns rough, we must hold the line together. Albania is not merely a beneficiary of European security; we are an active contributor to it. As a #NATO member and EU candidate country, Albania remains unwavering in its solidarity with #Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unjustified aggression. Borders cannot be redrawn by force. We support a just and lasting peace, together with accountability for crimes committed and violations of international law. #Regional cooperation must remain a driving force of our European integration with genuine effort to improving economic coperation, trade, connectivity and overall security as a contribution to a Europe that is stronger, safer and whole. #Albania2030

Pleased to welcome to Tirana Dr Kevin Casas-Zamora, Secretary-General of International IDEA, @Int_IDEA. We had a very useful exchange on ways to further strengthen our cooperation, including through specific programmes such as “Trust in Albanian Elections”, which is currently being implemented in #Albania and contributes to enhancing public confidence in democratic processes and institutions. Given International IDEA’s extensive experience in supporting democratic governance, electoral integrity, and the European aspirations of countries across the Western Balkans, I briefed on Albania’s progress towards achieving our foremost national objective: membership in the European Union within this decade. I highlighted the substantial advances made in the accession process, driven by sustained, targeted, and transformative reforms, as well as our unwavering commitment to strengthening the rule of law, democratic institutions, accountability, and good governance. We also discussed the broader importance of safeguarding democratic resilience, increasing citizens’ trust in institutions, and ensuring that democratic reforms deliver tangible results for people. Ministria për Evropën dhe Punët e Jashtme mirëpret konkluzionet e Këshillit Evropian @EUCouncil mbi zgjerimin dhe të ardhmen e Bashkimit Evropian. Ne vlerësojmë riafirmimin e qartë se #zgjerimi është një investim gjeostrategjik në paqen, sigurinë, stabilitetin dhe prosperitetin e Evropës. Ky është një mesazh i rëndësishëm në një kohë kur Bashkimi Evropian duhet të forcojë më tej unitetin, kapacitetin e tij për të vepruar dhe sovranitetin evropian. Ne mirëpresim gjithashtu riafirmimin e parimit të #meritës, sipas të cilit çdo vend kandidat avancon në procesin e anëtarësimit mbi bazën e progresit të vet. #Shqipëria ka qenë dhe mbetet plotësisht e angazhuar për të vijuar me vendosmëri reformat, veçanërisht në fushën e sundimit të ligjit, dhe për të përmbushur të gjitha angazhimet dhe detyrimet që burojnë nga procesi i negociatave. Progresi ynë do të matet dhe vlerësohet mbi bazën e punës, performancës dhe rezultateve tona. Në thelb, konkluzionet e Këshillit Evropian forcojnë më tej bindjen se #zgjerimi është sot në zemër të agjendës strategjike evropiane dhe se perspektiva e anëtarësimeve të reja po bëhet gjithnjë e më konkrete. Për Shqipërinë, si një nga vendet në pararojë të këtij procesi, përgjigjja duhet të jetë e qartë: të vijojë, pa humbur kohë, me vendosmëri dhe përgjegjësi, reformat dhe negociatat, përmes të cilave do të arrijë gatishmërinë e plotë për anëtarësim. Ky është një shans historik për Shqipërinë dhe shqiptarët. Kurrë nuk kemi qenë më pranë realizimit të aspiratës sonë më të madhe dhe më të qëndrueshme kombëtare, kërkesës së kahershme të rinisë dhe të gjithë shoqërisë shqiptare: Shqipëria në #Evropë. Por anëtarësimi nuk dhurohet. Ai fitohet, vetëm me punë, reforma, rezultate, përgjegjësi dhe përgjegjshmëri. Rruga deri këtu ka kërkuar shumë energji, përpjekje dhe sakrifica. Shqipëria ka treguar se i ka edhe energjitë, edhe aftësitë, edhe përkushtimin. Pikërisht sepse kemi pritur kaq gjatë dhe sepse e dimë se, në histori, mundësi të tilla nuk qëndrojnë të hapura përgjithmonë, nuk mund t’ia lejojmë vetes ta humbasim këtë moment. Dora e zgjatur e BE-së duhet shtrënguar fort, duke ecur krah për krah deri në anëtarësim. Duke nxjerrë mësimet nga e kaluara, ne nuk mund dhe nuk duhet të lejojmë që ky kapitull transformues i historisë sonë moderne, më i rëndësishmi për të sotmen dhe të ardhmen tonë, të bëhet historia e një tjetër shansi të humbur. #Shqipëria2030

Shqipëria ka bërë hapa madhorë në rrugën drejt Bashkimit Evropian, duke fituar më shumë besim dhe respekt ndërkombëtar dhe duke ndërtuar imazhin e një vendi të qëndrueshëm, të sigurt, mikpritës dhe gjithnjë e më tërheqës. Pikërisht për këtë arsye, pamjet e dhunës, shkatërrimit të pronës dhe sulmeve ndaj institucioneve apo selive diplomatike janë dëshpëruese dhe të papranueshme. Ato nuk përfaqësojnë as Shqipërinë e sotme dhe as atdheun që synojmë të ndërtojmë për nesër. Imazhi ynë ndërkombëtar është ndërtuar me shumë mund, ndër vite e dekada, por mund të cenohet lehtësisht. Çdo pamje dhune ndaj institucioneve, pronës publike apo asaj private dobëson mesazhin e stabilitetit, dëmton perceptimin e Shqipërisë si një vend i sigurt për turistët dhe investitorët dhe hedh hije e dyshime mbi aftësinë tonë të përbashkët për të përparuar drejt anëtarësimit në Bashkimin Evropian. Shprehja e pakënaqësisë dhe protesta paqësore janë pjesë e demokracisë; dhuna jo. Askush nuk duhet të dëmtojë një pasuri që na përket të gjithëve: emrin dhe reputacionin e Shqipërisë.

📍 Luxembourg -- Another important milestone in getting closer to the European Union. 🇦🇱🇪🇺 I was very pleased to participate today at a meeting on the margins of the EU General Affairs Council, where a decision was taken to formally associate 🇦🇱 Albania, together with the other Western Balkan partners and enlargement countries, with the European Centre for Democratic Resilience. This is an initiative we strongly advocated for, and today it becomes a reality. #Albania has built valuable experience in responding to cyber-attacks and strengthening institutional resilience. We are ready to further develop this expertise and contribute it to our joint efforts with European partners. At the same time, we are increasingly confronted with Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference - #FIMI, a challenge that has proven to be even more complex, adaptive and insidious. It targets not only systems, but trust; not only institutions, but the very foundations and the fabric of democratic debate. I also underlined the need for a stronger and more coordinated public communication approach. A whole-of-society response can only succeed when society itself is informed, aware and engaged. When citizens across Europe see Member States and candidate countries working side by side to protect democratic resilience, they see enlargement for what it truly is: a shared investment in our common future. For Albania, democratic resilience and #European accession are inseparable. Today’s decision is another concrete expression of gradual integration in action: shared challenges, shared responses, shared responsibility, and a common contribution to a stronger, more resilient #Europe. #Albania2030 -- 📍 Luksemburg -- Një tjetër moment i rëndësishëm në rrugëtimin tonë drejt Bashkimit Evropian. 🇦🇱🇪🇺 Sot, isha i lumtur të merrja pjesë në një takim në kuadër të Këshillit të Çështjeve të Përgjithshme të BE-së, ku u vendos për asociimin formal të Shqipërisë 🇦🇱, së bashku me partnerët e tjerë të Ballkanit Perëndimor dhe vendet kandidate për anëtarësim, në Qendrën Evropiane për Qendrueshmërisë Demokratike. Një nismë edhe në përgjigje të një kërkese nga ana jonë, e cila që sot bëhet realitet. Shqipëria ka krijuar një përvojë të vlefshme në përballimin e sulmeve kibernetike dhe forcimin e qëndrueshmërisë institucionale. Jemi të gatshëm ta zhvillojmë më tej këtë ekspertizë dhe ta vëmë atë në shërbim të përpjekjeve tona të përbashkëta me partnerët evropianë. Njëkohësisht, po përballemi gjithnjë e më shumë me manipulimin dhe ndërhyrjen e huaj në hapësirën informative (FIMI), një sfidë që ka dëshmuar të jetë edhe më komplekse por edhe më sfiduese. Pasi ajo nuk synon të prekë vetëm sistemet, por edhe besimin; jo vetëm institucionet, por vetë themelet dhe strukturën e debatit demokratik. Theksova gjithashtu nevojën për një qasje më të fuqishme dhe më të koordinuar në komunikimin publik. Një përgjigje që përfshin të gjithë shoqërinë mund të ketë sukses vetëm kur vetë shoqëria është e informuar, e ndërgjegjësuar dhe e angazhuar. Kur qytetarët në mbarë #Evropën shohin shtetet anëtare dhe vendet kandidate të punojnë krah për krah për të mbrojtur qëndrueshmërinë demokratike, ata e kuptojnë zgjerimin për atë që është në të vërtetë: një investim i përbashkët në të ardhmen tonë të përbashkët. It was a particular pleasure to welcome to Albania and meet with my counterpart, Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar @gidonsaar 🇦🇱🇮🇱 This year marks the 35th anniversary of Albania–Israel diplomatic relations, built on a profound and genuine friendship between our peoples, shared democratic values and mutual respect. The unique and inspiring story of #Albanians who, at great personal risk, opened their homes and hearts and welcomed, sheltered, protected, and saved Jews during the Holocaust, guided by the enduring values of Besa and an unwavering commitment to human dignity, stands as a cornerstone of the deep friendship and partnership that unite Albania and Israel today. Today, we reaffirmed our shared commitment, strong political will, and growing determination to further deepen our partnership. In this spirit, we signed the Albania-Israel Agreement on General Cooperation, an important milestone that opens new avenues for collaboration and elevates our bilateral relations to a new level. The Agreement provides a comprehensive framework for enhanced cooperation across a wide range of fields, including security, technology and innovation, trade and investment, agriculture, culture and education, reflecting the breadth of our common interests and the significant potential of our partnership. It stands not only a testament to the strength of our relationship today, but also an investment in a future of closer cooperation, greater prosperity, and stronger ties between our two nations. We also exchanged views on the #WesternBalkans, developments in the Middle East, and key global security issues, reaffirming our shared commitment to stability, dialogue, and international cooperation. I reaffirmed Albania’s unwavering support for Israel’s security and our shared determination to combat terrorism, extremism, and antisemitism wherever they arise. At the same time, I underscored Albania’s firm commitment to peace, dialogue, and international cooperation as indispensable pillars of regional and global security. Albania has been and will remain, a strong supporter of all efforts directed toward a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the Middle East. It is in this spirit that Albania joined the Board of Peace and has decided to to contribute concretly to international efforts, including through participation in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza. The vitality of Albania-Israel relations is perhaps best demonstrated by the more than 100,000 Israeli visitors who chose Albania last year. Riafirmova mbështetjen e palëkundur të Shqipërisë për sigurinë e Izraelit dhe vendosmërinë tonë të përbashkët për të luftuar #terrorizmin, ekstremizmin dhe #antisemitizmin kudo që ato lindin. Në të njëjtën kohë, nënvizova angazhimin e fortë të Shqipërisë për paqen, dialogun dhe bashkëpunimin ndërkombëtar si shtylla të domosdoshme të sigurisë rajonale dhe globale. Shqipëria ka qenë dhe do të mbetet një mbështetëse e fortë e të gjitha përpjekjeve të drejtuara drejt një paqeje gjithëpërfshirëse, të drejtë dhe të qëndrueshme në Lindjen e Mesme. Është në këtë frymë që Shqipëria iu bashkua Bordit të Paqes dhe ka vendosur të kontribuojë në mënyrë konkrete në përpjekjet ndërkombëtare, përfshirë me pjesëmarrjen në Forcën Ndërkombëtare të Stabilizimit në Gaza. Gjallëria e marrëdhënieve mes Shqipërisë dhe Izraelit dëshmohet ndoshta më së miri nga më shumë se 100,000 vizitorët izraelitë që zgjodhën Shqipërinë vitin e kaluar. Përtej faktit se bëhet fjalë për një statistikë mbresëlënëse, kjo është një shprehje e fuqishme e besimit, miqësisë dhe partneritetit gjithnjë e më të thellë që bashkojnë dy kombet tona.

Such inflammatory language might be brushed aside as political posturing were it not for the very real danger of emboldening those prepared to act on it. We have seen this before, too many times. #Banjska, where full accountability remains outstanding, stands as a stark reminder of what can happen when words become actions. #Albania remains firmly convinced that the only path forward, however difficult, lies in good neighbourly relations, regional cooperation, and genuine efforts to heal the wounds of the past and advance towards reconciliation. But there can be no sustainable regional cooperation while realities are denied, the legitimacy of neighbours is questioned, or threatening rhetoric is used for political gain. Building peace and trust takes time, often years, if not decades. It requires vision, courage, determination, and sustained commitment. #Europe itself was built on recognition, dialogue, mutual respect, and solidarity, not on denial, intimidation, or nostalgia for the past. In the #WesternBalkans, we know all too well where division, nationalism, and inflammatory rhetoric can lead. We cannot afford to forget those lessons, let alone repeat them. The Republic of #Kosova is an irreversible reality. It is a sovereign, democratic state, an equal part of our region, and a country steadily consolidating its place in the European and international community. It is home to all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity, and its future must be one of peace, security, inclusion, and European integration. Albania has stood by #Kosova and will continue to support it in every possible way. We see this not only as a commitment rooted in our close bonds, but also as a strategic investment in our shared #European future and in the peace, security, and prosperity of the entire region.

Albania condemns in the strongest terms the latest deadly Houthi attack against the Kingdom of #Saudi Arabia. The repeated attacks by the #Houthis, an #Iran proxy, pose a direct threat to regional stability, endanger civilian lives, and undermine efforts to promote peace and security in the region. There can be no justification for attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure. Those responsible must be held accountable. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and express our full solidarity with the people and authorities of Saudi Arabia. 🇦🇱🇸🇦
