In 2002, Iowa dominated Minnesota 45-21 at the Metrodome and finished off an 8-0 conference record, clinching a share of the Big Ten title.
After the game, over 10,000 Hawkeye fans stormed their field. When Minneapolis PD tried to get them off the field, they swarmed to the south end zone and took down the goalpost then started parading around the stadium.
After a few laps, they took the goalpost apart and brought sections out of the exits. Only a small number of fans were arrested on property damage charges.
This remains a sore point in Minnesota’s football history and a legendary moment in Iowa’s.

People are mad because they think it’s going to ruin the regular season. It isn’t. It will still be great. I guess I’m confused as to what people want out of the postseason. They claim they don’t like opt outs and half full neutral site bowl games. But they also don’t like this?
I like the 24 team playoff. I was told years ago that an expanded national championship would ruin the importance of the season. Since expansion, it's only made more games more meaningful. I think it'll do the same this time around. The parody is great in the sport, let's see it.
I'm calling it now. Iowa jumps to 15ish in the polls. Then because they're on bye next week, they drop 4 or so spots to return to the 20ish region.
