Loved being on @NewYorker poetry podcast to discuss poems of illness, Max Ritvo’s brilliance, and my poem “Sectioned” (about a complicated c-section and birth): newyorker.com/podcast/poetry…

Dylan Thomas was born on this day in 1914. Here's a poem that appeared in @thewalrus earlier this year that takes its title from a phrase in Thomas's "Poem in October."

He doesn’t want Canada to have a healthcare system (that the US absolutely doesn’t pay for), but he does want Israel to commit a genocide (that the US absolutely does pay for). Make of that what you will.
Trump: I do not want to lose, as your representative, $90 billion for the privilege of allowing Canada to have a healthcare system and other things that they shouldn't be having. They spend our money very unwisely.

Pessoa: “To possess something is to lose it. To feel something without possessing it is to keep it, because in that way one extracts its essence.” “By art I mean everything that delights us without being ours—a glimpse of a landscape… a sunset, a poem, the objective universe.”

I need to see these books you all are publishing. Muskrat’s algo has borrowed from Zuckerberg’s image-driven algos and I miss all the things I care about— namely, poetry, theory, and books/monos by small presses being published. Please link yours below if you a book out!! 🙏🫶

And I've done this four times! A modified version, anyway. Sample version from 2023. Long way baby . . . @MacMedWRC I still hear from the students about it! yay
Talking w/ Mac today about a possible Medicine & Society class that, on my table napkin, looks like this. I felt it important to include some outright positivity because I'm distressed by the overweening power of the hermeneutic of suspicion in contemporary culture. Wish me luck!
